Gene Merrick, age 41, of Newburgh, Indiana, died Saturday, July 14, as 7:35 p.m. at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, In.

Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Blue Springs Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Mr. Merrick was a diesel mechanic and a son of the late William H. and Henry Lovie Reddick Merrick.

Survivors include his wife, Gaye Boyd Merrick; four sons, Tim, Jim, Seth, and Jonathan Merrick, all of the home; five brothers, William Merrick, of Princeton, Amos Merrick, of Dearborn, Mich., Dick Merrick, of Henderson, Lucian Merrick, of Madisonville, and Jimmy Merrick, of Cadiz
