Funeral services for Charlie Austin, age 69, of Route One, Fredonia, were held Sunday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home with the Rev. Arrice Taylor officiating.

Burial was in Kennaday-Parker Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Mr. Austin, an employee of Arvin Industries, died Friday, June 2, at 6:11 p.m. at his home after a short illness.

A native of Caldwell County, he was born July 9, 1919 the son of the late Herbert and Bertha Rowland Austin. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and was an Army veteran of World War I I .

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy June Nelson Austin; one daughter, Deborah Lynn Austin, of the home; three sisters, Kathryn Bugg and Mildred Son, both of Caldwell County, and Barbara Hill,, of Danville.

Pallbearers were William "Sonny" Thomason, Bob Holloman, John Holloman, Wayne Towery, Rip Jackson, and Talmage Sigler
