Per book review in a 1996 genealogy magazine, a publication that truly was a "labor of love," -- "Out of the Shadows; A History of Bullitt County Women," by Betty Rolwing Darnell and Carolyn French (with the assistance of T. Ballard Morton of Louisville) -- was available at that time from the Bullitt County Library District POB 146, Shepherdsville, KY 40165. Perhaps you can still locate a copy there, or with the help of your own reference librarian.
This inexpensive, 328-page soft-cover book was said to contain a great many photographs and a marvelous collection of personal histories from in-depth interviews of 119 women and two men of Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Many ethnic backgrounds are represented including Polish and African-American. There is family chart data provided by the families, and readers can obtain much historical, sociological and personal insights into the county.
