(Collin Co.TX Courier Jan 28, 1909)
Messages were received here this morning announcing the death of W. T. (Tom) Hall at his home in Duncan, OK last night. He had long been a sufferer from cancer of the stomach and his condition for the past several weeks was known to be serious.
Mr. Hall was about 68 years of age and was a native of Breckinridge Co, KY. Soon after the breaking out of the Civil War he enlisted in the Union army and served until the close of hostilities. He had been a resident of Collin Co. for a quarter of a century, residing near Vineland, until his removal to Oklahoma about 2 years ago. He was prominent in local republican politics and was well-known throughout this city and county. His wife died several years ago and he is survived by the following sons and daughters: Ollie, Henry and Orest Hall, who reside at the old homestead; Mrs. Walter Downs of the same community, Jesse Hall of Duncan, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Lloyd Watkins of Sterret, OK.
The remains were brought to this city on the 1:08 train this afternoon and were taken to the Horn cemetery, near Vineland, where the interment was made.
(note by submitter: Treasury Dept. Application for Reimbursement gives death date as Jan. 25, 1909)
