Funeral services were held at the Cloverport Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, January 2, for John Matthews who died January 21, 1952 in Louisville. Rev. G. C. Sandusky conducted the services. Interment was in the Cloverport Cemetery. Charles Basham, Charles Matthews, Phil Henderson, Billy Matthews, Sargent Keenan, Lamar Ryan, and Harold Newman served as pallbearers. Dhoneau Funeral Home was in charge. Mr. Matthews, who was 83 years old, was born in Breckinridge County. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Laura Matthews of Louisville; nine children, Perry Matthews of Nashville.; Rev. S. A. Matthews of Drakesboro, Ky., Homer Matthews of Beaver Dam; Mrs. J. R. Mitchell of Louisville; Mrs. Ura Basham of Cloverport; Victor Matthews of Hardinsburg, Indiana, Mrs. Paul Soeder of Louisville; Marcus Matthews of Louisville, and Miss Nina Matthews, also of Louisville.
