Hello, Mark. I have just been reading about the Steele family, very (very!) distant kin, but so interesting. This family certainly devoted many lives to the service of the USA, both in the military and as civilians in government. That's what really got me interested in learning more about them.

I see that Faye Meinhart's John Logan Steele is noted "Colonel" on the cemetery listings at the Boyd Co. Libr. site, but I have not located military records on Ancestry.com for him. Are you familiar with his service?

John's father was also a military man, Daniel Webster Steele, and was married to another distant relative of mine, Aremitha Raven Ulen. Another son, Benjamin Ulen Steele, had a son, Benjamin Porter Steele (b. in Catlettsburg), who is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Most of his siblings are in Ashland Cem., and I wonder if anyone reading knows more about his military service. The Arlington record states, "2ND LT CAC USA POST DEF," but I have no other information and wonder if he is the only Catlettsburg native buried there.
