Since I'm from a branch of "cousins" to the family in Dr. Bateman's very interesting book, I'm enjoying research as a companion to re-reading. Some of the items I've turned up are a bit hard to find or just need a comment, so I'm posting those here for other readers.
First, there is a story on Ancestry which is a recap of the biography of Dwight Hawkins "Frank" Mott. The person who transcribed it overlooked the Mott surname entirely.
Next, death of Louisa James Ward Daniels is recorded in the WV Vital Research Records (online @
http://www.wvculture.org) under "Lou Daniels," and the information was provided by C. B. Daniels, MD. This may be her son Charles Bishop, apparently named for Lee Mott's husband. Also on the WV site: the marriage record of Wynemah Mott and William Meinhart, indexed under "Neudal Meinheart" and "Nynemah Mott" in Wayne County, 30 Oct 1905. Other death records for the family are also on that site but are much easier to locate.
On the Boyd Co. Library's cemetery database, William is "Meinhart," but Wynemah is "Meinhardt." Is this how they are actually marked, or a typo? From the incidents detailed in the Clay book, it would be quite reasonable for them to have so separated themselves in death.
Which brings me to the 1910 US Census and Miracode entries for William Meinhart. There, Wynemah Ruby is recorded as "Margaret." Her parents' birthplaces are simply "United States." Are these deliberate omissions, perhaps, by her husband?
