[d. August 20, 1980] Paul Ross, 85, Route 1, Rush, Bolt’s Fork, died at 3:45 a.m. today in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Ross was born May 22, 1895, in Boyd County, a son of the late William Isaac and Mary Frances Riffe Ross. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Ross Chapel. His wife, Mrs. Edna Earl Bolt Ross, died in 1977.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas H. Ross of Ashland, William E. Ross of Dayton, Ohio, and Clyde Harrison Ross of Rush, Kentucky; six daughters, Mrs. Pauline W. Yakley of Sugar Creek, Ohio, Mrs. Phyllis Davis of Ashland, Mrs. Mary Sue Comstock of Jackson, Ohio, Mrs. Jeanette Howard of Plain City, Ohio, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan of Cocoa, Florida., and Mrs. Wanda Lou Smith of Rush, Kentucky; a sister, Mrs. Clyde Bolt [Willia Ross] of Rush; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The body is at the Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. [The funeral was similar to that of his wife’s, below, and he was also buried at Ross Cemetery.]

[d. June 9, 1977] Mrs. Edna Earl Bolt Ross, 80, Rt. 1, Rush, Kentucky, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Ross was born May 21, 1897, in Boyd County, a daughter of the late William David [“W.D.”] and Amanda Jane Handley Bolt. She was a member of Ross Chapel and the Gold Star Mothers.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Ross; three sons, Thomas H. Ross of Ashland, William Earl Ross of Dayton and Clyde H. Ross of Rush; six daughters, Mrs. Pauline Yakley of Sugar Creek, Ohio, Mrs. Phyllis Davis of Ashland, Kentucky, Mrs. Mary Sue Comstock of Jackson, Ohio, Mrs. Jeanette Howard of Plain City, Ohio, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan of Coca, Florida., and Mrs. Wanda Lou Smith of Rush, Kentucky; a brother, Mont [Montroville Montgomery] Bolt of Ashland, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Robert [Josephine] Lakin of Ashland, Kentucky, and Mrs. Lilly Elswick of Akron, Ohio.; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ross Chapel by the Rev. Wallace Adkins and the Rev. Ralph Heston. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery.
The body is at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg, where friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today, and will be taken to the church one hour before services. Grandsons will be pallbearers.
[All Kentucky locations cited are in Boyd County. Clyde Bolt married to Paul’s sister “Willy” was also Edna Earl’s cousin.]
