As I've been sorting and building a tree, I'm missing a set of twins for whom I have a beloved anecdote. There were many Greens and Monts in the Bolt family in and around Boyd Co., but I have not yet run across a pair of twins by those names. The closest were both born in 1846, but they were in different households. If you recognize them, please post their year of birth. I've been looking only at William David Bolt's line, and I believe these men were from a side line, one or both.
Here's the story: The twins were Greenville and Montra[o]ville, and they must have been identical (or nearly so). Together, they "went west to the frontier," though I never heard a specific location named. Apparently, Green was a more skilled frontiersman. One day, Mont was in the company of other frontiersmen without his brother, and they were kidding him about his lack of experience. One fellow said something like, "You sure are green," as in a "greenhorn." Mont, missing the message, replied, "No, I'm his brother, Mont." (This still makes me laugh.) Eventually, one of the brothers, probably Mont, returned to Boyd Co., and the family lost track of Green. I don't know if that was a permanent condition, or if he eventually returned to Boyd.
I've heard several people (now all passed on) in the family tell this story, and it was consistant from teller to teller.
If anyone can match these brothers with a date or family, please share.
