John EDWARDS, 81, of Lakeview, OH passed away April 18, 2009, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, OH. He was born on September 18, 1927, in Paris, KY to the late John & Verna EDWARDS. On December 14, 1979, he married Sandra Young in DAYTON, OH. He is survived by his wife: Sandra, four sons: Richard EDWARDS, Columbus, OH, Dana Adkins, Parklane, OH, Bryan (Lucy) EDWARDS, Maineville, OH, Barry EDWARDS, Fairborn, OH, step-daughter: Teresa Eley, West Minster, OH, step-son: Tom (Tammy) Burden, West Minster, OH, 11 grandchildren, and a brother: William "Buck" EDWARDS, DAYTON, OH. He was preceded in death by a son Mike EDWARDS, granddaughter Hannah EDWARDS, and sister Donna. John attended Wilbur Wright High School in DAYTON, OH. He was a Navy Seebee during World War II in Guam and upon returning from his service to his country graduated in 1947. He was a 16 year member of the DAYTON Fire Department and retired from DAYTON Door Sales after 25 years of service. He was a life member and past president of the DAYTON Gymnastics Club, charter member of the Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615, Charter member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge # 1533, and life member of the Doyle R. Miller Amvet Post #39, all of Lakeview. He served as Stokes Township Zoning Officer from 1993 until 2000, and was elected as a Stokes Township Trustee in 2000 serving two terms starting in 2001 until present. John enjoyed woodworking, golf and watching old western movies. Pastor Dean Wasson will conduct funeral services at 11:00 a.m. April 22, 2009 at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Visitation will be April 21, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire with military rites performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be given in John's name to the Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615 Scholarship Fund. Condolences can be expressed at condolences@shoffstallfuneralhome.com Arrangements are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview.
