I am looking for documented proof that John L. Shipp is the son of Laban and Sally Johnson Shipp. John had a son Samuel Laban Shipp who was born in 1815 in Pendleton County, KY. Samuel married Elizabeth Carter first then Mary Ann Wells. Samuel's daughter America married John Lewis Henry. Any help would be appreciated.

He is my 2nd great grandfather, but I have no documentation on his parents, other than oral history. There might be something in the Barton Papers, I have not had a chance to revisit those in years.

Lisa, My 4th g maternal grand parents were Laban Shipp and Elizabeth (Sally) Johnson. Their daughter, Sarah Johnson Shipp married my 3rd great grand father, John Mountjoy Garrard, of Bourbon Co., Ky. She is the sister to John Laban Shipp, B. Dec. 22, 1782 in Fauquier Co., Va. John had a son, John Laban Jr. b. about 1814. John Jr. was living in Pendleton Co., Ky. by the 1850, Pendleton Co. Census. Samuel married Eliza Carter on Nov. 6, 1837 in Pendleton Co., Ky.

Shipp with a brother named Samuel Laban Shipp. On rootsweb, if you query Sarah J Shipp you will see a short posting of her marriage to my 3ggrandfather William M. Caldwell. In the Ahnentafel it includes more info on parents and siblings. Samuel and Sarah's parents are said on there to be: John L. Shipp and Elizabeth Hanson.
