John Yocum Dennis, and his daughter Mary Yocum Igo, are buried at the Upper Salt Lick Cemetery, Bath Co. I have a copy of Upper Salt Lick cemetery records, that list John Y. Dennis, and Mary Y. Igo, wife of Levi, buried at Upper Salt Lick cemetery.

The Upper Salt Lick Cemetery, was done by Ray Woznick, Inez Hemmingson, and Mildred Sattenfield. And transcribed with stone inscriptions, and their comments by David E. Pendleton. And was on the Bath Co, archives in 2001, when I printed off a copy.

No stone are other records have been found at Smith Chapel cemetery, in Saline Co, MO., for John Y. Dennis, and Mary Y. Igo. This is why.

Sarah (Pergram) Dennis, and Levi Igo, as well other members of the Dennis, and Igo, family are buried at Smith Chapel Cemetery and they all have stones.

John Y. Dennis, did go to Saline Co, MO., and much have returned to Bath Co, for some reason and died in Bath Co.

Mary Y. (Dennis) Igo, never went to MO., with her husband and children, but died before her family moved to MO.

Check find a grave.com for Smith Chapel, Saline Co, MO.

Bath Co, marriages shows Levi Igo, and Mary Y. Dennis, married Aug 8, 1855 in Bath Co, not Morgan, as many people have listed.

Tina

Nora M. RIDDLE d/o Spencer RIDDLE, m. Alfred FAWNS and ? PENDLETON

I am researching all the descendants of Lewis RIDDLE and Elizabeth BARBEE.

This particular query concerns one of Lewis and Elizabeth's great-great-granddaughters, Nona M. Riddle, only child of Elijah Spencer Riddle and his wife Annie. (She is only my 3rd cousin twice removed, so I am not a close relative, which is why I'm hoping someone closer will know more. Some of her children are very likely still living.)

Here is what data I have on Nona and her parents:

Elijah Spencer Riddle (known as Spencer) was the son of George A. Riddle and his first wife Margaret Jane Ferguson.

Bath Co. marriage records list the marriage of Spence Riddle and Annie Jones on 4 May 1896. (From a published index; I do not have access to the details.)

1900 census of Bath Co., Ky, Wyoming precinct, enumerated 1 June, list on p. 1A as family #3:
Riddle, Spencer, 33, farmer; Annie H., wife, 24, b. May 1876, married 4 years, no children. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

1910 census of Wyoming precinct, Bath Co., Ky, enumerated 18 April, lists on p. 1A as family #10:
Riddle, Spencer E., 43; Anna H., 34, wife, married 14 years, no children; Hobart, 11, nephew. All born Ky Ky Ky. (Hobert is the son of Richard Andrew Riddle and Dosha Belle Craycraft.)

1920 census of Bath Co., Ky, Forge Hill precinct, enumerated 3 Jan, lists on p. 1B as family #14:
Riddle, Spencer, 52; Nannie, wife, 44; Nona M., dau, 3 8/12; Purvis, Myrtle, servant, 23. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1930 census of Bath Co., Ky, Owingsville precinct, enumerated 11 April, lists on p. 3B as family #100/104:
Riddle, Spencer, farmer, 56, age at first marriage 21; Anna, wife, 52, age at first marriage 17. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

Note that Nona is not listed with the family. This is because she married very young. We'll get back to her.

Spencer's death certificate records Spencer Riddle, age 77 yrs 5 mos 26 days, born 4 March 1868, died 30 Aug 1945 in Owingsville rural area, married, husband of Annie Riddle, father George A. Riddle, mother’s maiden name Margaret Riddle, cause of death organic heart trouble, informant Annie Riddle, burial in Old Virginia graveyard.

The best possibility I've found for Annie's death certificate is the Annie Hester Riddle who died 19 Jan 1953 in Owingsville rural area, widowed, age 80, with a birthdate given as 20 May 1872. The age range is within reason, given the variance in census records and the fact that ages at death are often approximate. And she was buried in the Old Virginia cemetery.

But the trouble with that identification is that her death certificate lists that Annie’s parents as John Powell and Kate Smith, and the informant is a Rollie Powell, which is in conflict with the marriage record for Spencer Riddle and Annie Jones. However, she may have been previously married to a Jones.

There was a Rollie K. Powell, age 16, born Oct 1883, son of Thomas Powell (43) and wife Emma (age 40) listed two households before the family of Spencer and Annie Riddle in the 1900 census, which would tend to support this hypothesis.

Getting back to Nona ...

1930 census of Bath Co., Ky, Forge Hill precinct, enumerated 2 April, lists on p. 1A as family #3:
Fawns, Nannie B., 60, widowed; Alfred W., son, 20, age at first marriage 20; Nona M., dau-in-law, 14, age at first marriage 13. All born Ky Ky Ky.

The Kentucky birth index lists four children born in Bath Co., Ky, with mother's maiden name of Nona Riddle:

George Fawns, born 29 Mar 1931
Annie H. Pendleton, born 8 Mar 1933
Darlene Pendleton, born 19 Nov 1938
Ronnie Pendleton, born 30 Apr 1946

My questions include:

1. What was Nona's birthdate? I cannot find her in the Ky birth index.
2. What was the given name of her second husband?
3. Does anyone have the two marriage dates?
4. Did Alfred Fawns die young, or were they divorced? (I suspect the latter.)
5. Was her mother's maiden name Jones or Powell? If the latter, who was Annie's first husband?

And of course, contact with descendents is always welcome.

Thanks, Sharon.

Well, it looks like we are not going to find any descendants of George then. :)

Hopefully some of the Pendletons may still find this query. Since they were all born after 1930, they are not going to appear on any publicly available census, and I could not find a death certificate for any of them in the databases on Ancestry, suggesting that they most likely all died after 1953 and/or outside of Kentucky.

Benjamin Franklin Hasty 1830 Bath Co., KY

Is this Benjamin Franklin Hasty (born 1830 Bath Co.) the same man who married Julia/Juliana ____________ and died by 1880 in Kansas, possibly in Franklin County, KS?

Benjamin and Julia (b. Nov 1831 IN) lived in Iowa in the 1850's and then moved to Kansas by 1863. By 1870 they were in Franklin Co., KS where Benjamin was a land owner and farmer.

The Benjamin Hasty I am searching for had at least 6 children born between 1855 and 1873. (it appears that Benjamin died between 1873 and 1880. His widow Julia married L.N. Thornbrugh 1886 in Franklin Co., KS)

Were his parents William Hasty and Mary Morgan Carter?

OBIT Jesse Clay Wills 1919-2009

NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INDIVIDUAL. JUST POSTING THE OBITUARY ON JESSE WILLS FROM THE MIDDLETOWN (OH) JOURNAL 7/1/09

Jesse Clay Wills, a longtime resident of the Monroe/Middletown (oh)area, died June 30, 2009, at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Middletown, OH. He was born in Salt Lick, KY on January 29, 1919, to parents Floyd and Clara (Downs) Wills. He had four sisters and three brothers. Paul Wills of Middletown, OH, Ruby Purvis of Gratis, OH, Delores Kissick of Salt Lick, KY and Carl Wills of MI have predeceased him. He is survived by two sisters, Helen Chesterman of FL and Mabel Deaton of CA and one brother Kennith Wills of KY. After faithfully serving his country in World War II, Jesse married his only wife, Lucy Ellen Howard, and began his life and family locally. He retired in 1982 after more than 40 years of service to Armco (AK) Steel. His wife, Lucy, died in 2003 after 56 years of devoted love and marriage, and his only child, Calvin, died in 1998. He leaves behind his only beloved grandchild, Carrie Ann Wills, a graduate student at OSU, who resides in Dublin, OH; his daughter-in-law, Scott Ann Wills Lane, who resides with her husband, Greg, in Waynesville, OH and many family and friends who loved him very much. Some of Jesse's favorite things throughout his life were working on cars with his son and taking care of his granddaughter when she was a child. He and Lucy took many trips to Salt Lick to visit his parents and loved having family into his home for dinners. He loved the Bible, checkers, Bingo, stories about working at Armco, and retelling stories about places he went and things he saw in Europe and Africa during the war. Scott Ann and Carrie would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Greg Lane, Scott Ann’s husband, for his love, friendship, and time helping Scott Ann take care of Jesse during his final years; to two of Jesses nieces, Sandra Kidwell and her husband, George of Dayton, OH and Margaret Ann DePew and her husband, Wilburn of Franklin, OH for their faithful visits, phone calls, cards, and gifts to Jesse. They kept family alive for him, especially since the passing of his son and wife; to Destiny Hospice for assisting Jesse to pass into his final rest with dignity; and last but not least, to all the staff and residents of Rittenhouse Senior Living of Middletown (formerly McKnight Terrace) for their excellent care, love, and friendship. They became his second family and he called it "home". Because Jesse never could forget his years in the U.S. Army, he always called the dining room at Rittenhouse "the mess hall." He often said "they really take good care of you around here." Please come to his funeral service and celebrate his life with his family and friends on July 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH with Reverend Larry Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
The children I have for James W. and Henrietta Riddle Goodpaster are:

John M. Goodpaster 1871-1918
Rosa L. Goodpaster b. abt 1876
William Goodpaster 1877-1921
Ann Goodpaster b. abt 1878
James K. Goodpaster abt 1880-1918

There may be others. This is not my line, so I haven't followed most of them past the 1880 census. The 3 males have death certificates available online through Ancestry.

Sarah Nesnow

Thank you. I have Menifee Co, marriages up to 1912, and some of George Carmichael's sibling were married in Menifee Co, but not George W.

I wounder if he could have married in Harrison Co?

I have search page by page 1880 Bath Co, census, George W is not listed, that I found. Nor is he listed in Bath Co in 1900 and 1910.

His daughter Emily J Carmichael married James Warner abt 1900. I am guessing Bath Co, Do you have any info on this?

Thanks again.

Tina

Thanks Warren.

Darrell Warner's site has Geoge W Carmichael married Lou E Sorrell. I found the death certificate for a daughter of George W Carmichael's and it listed her mother's surname as Sorrell.

When I got the death certificate of George W Carmichael's wife it gave yet another surname. Two other person's have still two other surnames for George W Carmichael's wife.

Now I have four different surnames for who George W Carmichael married.

Thanks,

Tina
