I have just found my great-great grandmother in the 1870 fed. census in Fort Jefferson, Ballard Co.,Ky. I have a number of maps but none show this location.

George Cloggin Pease; m. Nov 10, 1814 Elizabeth Aiken Allen. This is probably the George Pease who died at Charleston, SC Jun 26, 1818 aged 25 years according to the New York Evening Post dated Jul 14, 1818. One child of George Cloggin and Elizabeth Aiken (Allen) Pease:

Thomas Allen Pease; b. about 1815 in Charleston, SC; m. Nov 15, 1837 Harriet Wallace; b. May 1817 in Charleston, SC. During the 1850, 1870 and 1880 census, Thomas and his family are in (Brakes 1880) Ballard County, Kentucky. In the 1880 census, his parents are listed as being born in South Carolina. Harriet’s father’s birth place is also listed as SC, and her mother’s as England. In 1900, Harriet is a widow living with her daughter Ann in Blandville, Ballard County, KY. In this census, it is stated that both of her parents were born in SC.

Does anyone know of any papers or photographs of Oscar Turner (1825-1896), who was one of the great public servants of the Jackson Purchase during the nineteenth century. His highest office was as a member of the US Congress. The most important part of his public service was while a citizen of Ballard County.

Robert, according to family lore, hid during the Civil War in the hay
stack. Tamasia would bring Robert his meals in the hay stack.
Different troops would come by the farm looking for him and Tamasia
would tell them she had not seen Robert. Several times the farm was
raided of food. Once troops took the horse, Tamasia followed on foot
and she kept telling the soldiers how badly she needed the horse.
They gave her the horse back to get rid of her.

His biography was in the Histories and Biographies of Promient Famlies
by Battle. Robert states that he is of the Baptist faith and a
Democrat.

Robert Yates Jerrell and Tamasia Ann Peyton moved to KY in about
1860. They had two children ( Lee and Oteria).

They first settled in Christian County and then later moved to Ballard
County.

My ggggrandfather, William D Heath, ggggrandmother Eliza Heath (Husbands) were buried there according to family history. Eliza died 30 Nov 1886, William D died 13 Aug 1892. Their son, Andrew Jackson Heath and his wife, Nancy (Eliza) Heath (Senter) are supposed to be buried there as well. Andrew having died 13 Nov 1885, killed by a train in Paducah, KY. His wife was supposedly buried there too, she having died 25 Mar 1881.

I haven't been able to locate any information on the church or cemetary. I'd be very grateful for any information you could give me.

My grandfather, Robert Lee McChristian, was born on 2/14/1890, in Blandville, Ballard County, KY. I would appreciate any information about his family and whether or not he had any brothers and sisters.

Robert Lee McChristian's father, Joseph Alexander McChristian (born 4/18/1862), and grandfather, Robert A. McCuistion (born 2/15/1819 in Bedford County, TN, died 1/11/1892) are buried in the cemetery in Blandville. Also buried there is Sarah Elizabeth Martin (born 3/20/1829 in IL, died 12/31/1917), the wife of Robert A. McCuistion.

I have been unable to find any information about the parents of Robert A. McCuistion or Sarah Elizabeth Martin, or about when then came to Blandville. Any help in this direction would be much appreciated.

Joseph Alexander McChristian married Susan (Sue/Sudie) Richardson and they were living in Blandville when my grandfather (Robert L.) was born in 1890. I have a wonderful photo of Sue Richardson as a young woman, but we have very little information about her parents and her family.

Mrs. Ballard and the five children accompanied it and we understand will remain there. Quite a large number of neighbors and friends accompanied the family to the depot, and Steve Ewing went with them. It was a sad occasion.

Searching for information on William Lovelace, who traveled to Buchanan Co. Missouri, with his wife, name unknown, and children, Cecil, Roy, Dorie, a male, and Fannie. When they arrived in the small town of DeKalb, Missouri, William's wife died and left him with the 4 children. I have no dates on any information, but am guessing it was in the late 1800's.
I am trying to help a relative of the family in their search. Have wondered if the family members' names may be in their genealogy line. The descendant had heard of town of Lovelaceville. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Dennis

I ordered a death certificate and in the place of burial it is very hard to read the name of the cemetery.I can make out the first five letters which are Bridge and than about five more letters to complete the word . It is in Ballard Co.She died in 1911, the 1900 census shows her living in Hinkville. Possibly it is close by there.
If anyone can help ,I would certainly appreciate it !

I'm looking for someone who has access to Ballard County's 1850 census. I'm trying to decipher the occupation listed for Joseph Furgerson in the 1850 Ballard County census. I'm pretty sure it starts with "Studen of" but I am unable to come up with the last word. He is located on page 250 of the census. If you look it up on Ancestry.com it should be the first page of the Ballard county section. I have also attached a file that shows it. You'll want to click on the image to make it bigger. Any help would be appreciated.

My great grandfather, James Madison Hall was born in Halifax County, VA in June 1839. He and his parents, Ann Elizabeth Barnes and William Johnson Hall moved to McCracken County KY in the middle to late 1840's. They lived in western McCracken County near the Heath-Grahamville area. James had several brothers and sisters, George, John, Joseph, Thomas, Charles, Susan, Betty and Molly.

James Madison Hall married Anna Unknown prob. in January 1863. Anna died before 1880. They lived in McCracken County. They had Annie (she married A. P. Hall), Robert, David Benjamin, John Odie,and James Thomas. James Thomas Hall is the father of B. Allie Hall. David Benjamin Hall married Lena Jerrell and they had several children: Andrew Jackson Hall (Jack Hall), Thomas Hall, Lee Hall and Anna Mae Hall (Klimson) and Robert Peyton Hall. David and Lena lived in Ballard county until they moved to AR. Robert married Ruby unknown and died in Paducah KY Feb. 1981. Ruby died before 1981. They had eight children: Delbert Hall, Joe Bob Hall, J. T. Hall, Clifton Hall, Magie Hall (Morgan), Shirley Hall (Baggett), Marjorie Hall (Wright) and Rita Faye Hall (Cornwell). I am looking for descendents of any of the above.

I found a Wiliam Herron ferry boat operater died 1910. 2nd wife Rebecca Jones. I'm trying to prove this is the husband of Betty Elizabeth. I know he was a deep water diver and fished and worked on a ferry boat at Clarks River in Mc Cracken Co.,Ky.There ws a toronada hit near Clark River and he help rescue bodies in his diving suit.Their daughter Sarah LaVenna Herron, Venters was my grandmother.and was cousins to the Herron;s in Ballard Co Ky

Carneal's sister Georgia Herron Clark (hus Ralph) lived there.
Their dau Lola and Wanda ,When Betty died she ws taken by ferry boat to the Livingston Co Ky side and buried at the Old Sand Hills Graves Yard. We found no marker. but did climb the hill. and found limestone markers.My mother remebered her dying, because Betty delivered her, and on the way to Liv Co Ky side Betty's nephew fell in and died with the week,of pneumonia. Twins run in the Herron Family, and my grandmotehr had twins, also her son had twins and her dad was a twin?to the Herron in Ballard Co Ky.Ballard Co Ky Herron's had a son res Metroplis, Ill but died in Paducah,Ky.WBH My grandmotehrs''s sister had twin granddaughters also.Etta Herron Mendenhall, and her dau. Jesse Messhew was living in Ballard/Hickman county with his son, Willian E. Meshew in 1841. Jesse died in 1841 and I would like to find where he was buried. It may have been on William's farm but I don't know where this may be. I need to locate his farm hoping to find a grave on it.

I am looking for descendants of Robert Yates Jerrell. He was born in 1830 in Spottsylvania County, VA. His father is Bland Jerrell who was a soldier in the War of 1812, Robert's mother was Mary Pendleton. They had Joseph, Mildred, Mary E., Lucy A., Margaret H., William J., Edmund W. and Robert Yates Jerrell. In 1848 the family moved to Christian County, KY. Robert married Tamasia Ann Peyton before leaving VA. Before 1860 Robert and Tamasia moved to Ballard County. The first two children were born in Christian County KY. They had Lee W.Jerrell, Otie E. Jerrell (Ransdell), Robert M. Jerrell, Sallie Porter Jerrell (she married Leander Thomas Yancey, they had no children, this was his second marriage)Maud E. Jerrell, Tamasia A. Jerrell, Maggie P. Still looking for information on the children of James Madison Hall and Anna Unknown. They were married prob. in January 1864. They had James Thomas, William, Robert, John Odie, Joseph E., Annie Elizabeth, and David Benjamin. They were all born in McCracken County. James Thomas, Annie and David Benjamin all moved to Ballard County after they grew up. David married the first time to Lena Marie Jerrell, she is the daughter of Robert Jerrell and Tamasia Ann Peyton. I know that David and Lena eloped when she was 13 years old. They had several children. Lena and David divorced. Lena married several times, one of which was a Mr. Bruce. Bernard Hall (son of Lena and David Benjamin) is suppose to have killed Mr. Bruce in defense of Lena. Does anyone have any information regarding this?

His Father Robert TURNER is supposed to have died around 1846 in Christian Co. but this is only hearsay and he may be buried in Ballard County. My grandfather Jasper Clifton Newton was born in Ballard Co. KY in the 1903-1906 time frame. He was married to a Mary Baker, was the son of Samuel Newton. His siblings included Sydney, Baker, Wilson, Josephine, etc. I am looking for more information about his origin in Ballard Co. I have been to the Newton Cemetery at LBL and looked at the gravesites, but have not drawn any correlation between my grandfather and the Newtons of Ballard,McCracken, and Trigg counties. 1921 NEWSPAPERS

I am looking for a newspaper story. It would be from around July 20, 1911. My grandmother and grandfather eloped from Mississippi Co., Missouri and married in Wickliffe, KY. Their names were Thomas Barbee White and Edna Nora Black. My Dad told me that at the time their marriage was published, it caused quite a furor because it was published "Black marries White", which at that time caused people to think it was a person of African-American descent marrying a Caucasian, which was very taboo at that time. My Dad said he used to have the newspapers from that time, but somehow they were lost or destroyed. I don't know which paper would have published this. Does anyone have any way of checking for old newspaper articles from that time? I would love to have information from any articles from that time. My Dad told me that this raised quite a rumpus before the paper could print something that let people know that it just happened to be two people with the last names of Black and White and not a racial thing. Would love to have any information at all. Thanks for any help at all on this.

I'm a RUDY researcher working on a collateral family, who mostly lived in Ballard county, the children of James William RUDY, son of Jacob A. RUDY and Mary Jane WRIGHT, and Laura RUCKER, daughter of Martin Parks RUCKER and Catherine S. FUNK. James and Laura married in Henderson co KY on 20 Nov 1873. He died in Webster co KY in 1892, Laura died in Ballard county in 1928. Their children were Harry R., William H., Kate, Rose W., Bess, Martin R., Laura, and Mary Jane. The latter two children, I believe, are buried in Fernwood cemetery in Henderson, KY. Bess died in Ballard co. in 1974, Martin in McCracken in 1961, and Harry R. in McCracken in 1946, he resided in Ballard co. William H. d. in McCracken in 1952, he resided in Ballard co. As I understand he is buried in Cane Creek Cemetery but the Ballard Co. Cemetery book doesn't show either he or his wife Matilda Keeling Anderson who died in 1911. I have her death certificate showing that she is buried in Cane Creek Cemetery. Any information I can get on my gr grandfather would be greatly appreciated.

John (1796-1860) and Henry (1802? -) Miers/Moyers, sons of Daniel and Barbara Miers/Moyers Warren Co., Ky.,moved to Hickman Co. prior to 1840. Listed in the 1850 Ballard Co. census, but with children listed by initials only. (I understand that Ballard Co. was part of Hickman in the 1840's.

Where is Holloway, Ballard Co., KY?

My great-grandmother claimed to live in Holloway, Ballard Co., KY, when she was married in April 1903, in Cairo, IL. Has anyone heard of "Holloway?" I can't find it on any map. I wonder if it is some general area in the county?
