If you can get your hands on CD #185 (Family History: Kentucky Genealogies #1, 1700s-1800s) you will find a nice discussion of Bland BALLARD's family. This CD contains many Kentucky Genealogies and the one in question is entitled "Notes on One of the Early Ballard Families of Kentucky, Including the Ballard Massacre" and was written by Margaret Morris (Mrs. Roy) Bridwell of Louisville, Kentucky. It begins with Bland Ballard who was born about 1700 and who died in Spotsylvania County, VA in 1791. It continues through several generations and includes 3 or 4 generations of Bland Ballards. If you don't have access to the Broderbund Family Archive CD's perhaps you can find the original three volume set of "Genealogies of Kentucky Families". This particular article is found in volume III of that series. Hope this helps..

I have not been able to place Eugene Virgil Ballard as a descendant of Bland Ballard. However I have run into so many dead ends that I won't rule him out as a descendant . Just need to keep digging . Ballard Co. Ky Ballards are many and the branches are confusing as so many of them named their children the same names. Don't give up on your search.

Looking for traces of a family in Ballard Co. My gt-gma was born Fannie Belle Ransdell, and I possess a picture of her and her sisters, I believe late 1890's. Her sisters' names were Kate, Inez, Effie, Allie,and the twins Hattie and Mattie. Fannie Belle married "Will" Taylor, reputedly from TN; her sister Effie married "Ferd" Taylor. As far as I know, there was a dau for Effie and Ferd, Margaret, who married a Sale. Fannie and Will had two children, Audrey (Mrs Iulus White) and Jesse William.

The seven sisters had five brothers, of two were named Ernest and Walter.

The family had a farm called White Oaks...

On the back of this picture is the note: "The Ransdells and Taylors lived near each other in the country part of KY. Little towns of Woodville, Kevil, La Center, and Barlow..."

The maiden name for the 12 Ransdells mother in our family Bible is "Beck," possibly a link to a "Dr" Jesse Beck.

I'm trying to find a Eugene Ballard of Ky, My GGrandmother Kate Ballard had a sister Anna Belle Ballard, While searching the census in Ky, I found a Bland Ballard married to Fannie Ballard with the children Kate, Ann & Eugene Ballard...
