My great grandfather Jacob Anderson Williams served under General Forrest and was Co F, 3rd Reg. I believe he enlisted in 1863 and was from Ballard Co (included present Carlisle then). He was wounded in the battle at Harrisburg, Miss, and after recovery, was unable to fight and General Forrest put him in charge of his horses. He named his first child, a girl, Effie Forrest Williams. Jake died in Carlisle Co in 1913.
Another great grandfather, James Riley "Hood" Skaggs also from Ballard fought with Co F, 3rd reg. He was wounded in 3 different battles, one of which was Harrisburg, Miss, but survived and lived until 1918 and died in Hinkleville, Ballard Co, KY.
