T. P. NORRIS, of the firm of
Norris &
Tate, dealers in dry goods, notions, etc., was born December 11, 1844, in
Montgomery County, Tenn., he is a son of William J. and
Polly (
Adams)
Norris, both natives of the same State and county. The father was born February 24, 1818, and is now living in
Ballard County,
Ky. The mother died in 1868, aged forty-six years. Our subject was reared in
Ballard County,
Ky. In 1873 he came to
Guthrie, and with his brother,
Morgan C., opened a general store. This they continued four years, when the brother died, and they closed out the business. In 1880 the present firm was established. They have been doing an increasing business, their sales now amounting to $8,000 or $10,000 a year. He was appointed Postmaster in March, 1881, and still holds the office; he has been a member of the Town Board, and while a member was
Clerk of that body. Mr. Norris was married in 1882 to Miss Luella, daughter of A. M. Covington, of Clarksville, Tenn.
