A History of Masonry in Madison County, Kentucky 1812-1913, compiled and written by Robert R. Burnam, 1914, p. 88. FREDERICK WILLIAM FRANCIS born September 7, 1845, at Stratford, England. When a young man he came to the United States with his mother, living for a time in Cincinnati. Having a talent for drawing he became a sculptor, and for some years was a designer and builder of monuments. He came to Richmond about 1870 and established the "Richmond Monumental Works." Later in life he studied medicine. Removing to St. Louis he began the practice. Although a stranger in a great city, by his bearing and efficiency he has come to enjoy a most lucrative practice. He also fills a chair in one of the medical colleges there. After having received the first two degrees he was made a Master Mason February 23, 1876. He was elected Secretary the following December and served as such for three years. Elected Master December, 1884. He received the Chapter degrees during the year 1876 and filled nearly every station in the Chapter. He was twice elected High Priest in 1886 and again in 1891. Was Knighted in Richmond Commandery and was elected Eminent Commander in 1890. He was many times the representative of his Lodge to the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, serving frequently on most important committees. He is still living in St. Louis where as both practitioner and teacher he has earned a most enviable record.
