Any assitional information or contacts with any family members appreciated.

Mrs. Virginia Frances Harris died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Blanche Humphrey 446 Nebraska avenue, Kansas City, Kansas Friday morning, July 8, 1910.
Mrs. Harris was the widow of the late Captain James H. Harris, a veteran and gallant officer in the civil war. She was one of the pioneers of this city and during the trials and hardships incident to the settlement of a new country and an internecine war she bore her part with womanly dignity and fortitude. She was sympathetic and kind hearted with a cheery happy disposition.
Miss Virginia Frances Brown was born in Louden (Loudoun countyy, Virginia, August 7,1832, emigrated with her parents in childhood to Zanesville, Ohio, where she was married to James H. Harris, September 6, 1849.
Her husband, Captain Harris, died September 21, 1887, two sons died in infancy and two sons, Charles B. G. and Harvey in early manhood. Mrs. Blanche Humphrey, D. B. Harris, Mrs. Fannie N. Porter, an adopted daughter, and Otto F. Harris, survive her.

I have a Virginia Brown born about 1832 in Virginia who was a sister of my ancestor, Anna M. Brown. Anna married Joseph David in Muskingum County on Sep. 2, 1846. I have not been able to establish who Virginia and Anna's parents were and am not 100% sure that the Virginia Frances Brown who married James Harris is the one who is related to me. There was a Virginia Brown born about 1832 listed in the 1850 census with Joseph and Anna in Pittsburgh and a Virginia Brown born about 1832 listed in the 1850 living with a Theophilus Brown in Zanesville (a brother?). I realize that Virginia was married in 1849 and should be listed as a Harris wherever she is listed. Interestingly, one of Joseph and Anna's daughters moved to Kansas City, MO in the early 20th century.

I have been asking exactly the same questions you were asking. I ran across "Virginia Brown" in two places in the 1850 census so am not entirely sure it is the same person. I am helping a neighbor and good friend who descends from Joseph and Anna Maria (Brown) David though their son, George W. David. If the 1849 marriage date is correct for Virginia Harris I do not think she could be the same Virginia, but I have not yet investigated that.

The Virginia Frances Brown that married James H. Harris Sept 6, 1849 in Muskingum county, Ohio by A. Bartholomew is the daughter of Isaac M Brown and Christina Kyle.
Another family obituary states they lived in Middleburg and Upperville Virginia and they did come to Muskingum county, Ohio around the early 1830's. Some of the family continued west to Illinois and some to Kansas.
This is the obituary of the brother of Isaac M. Brown which I posted on the Leavenworth county, Kansas rootsweb site. There have been several replies.
-----------------------------------------------
The death of Hon. Abraham Brown occurred at his residence in Leavenworth, Kansas, a few days since after a protracted illness. The deceased was a man eminently respected by all who knew him. He was posessed by a kind heart and generous impulse, and by acts of kindness had won the love of many warm friends who deeply deplore his death. He was at one time a member of the Kansas legislature, Judge of the Court, and during his sojourn in Kansas, had filled many positions of honor and trust. He was a brother of the late Isaac M. Brown, who was so many years a resident of Zanesville. (Ohio) He had attained the ripe age of seventy years.

Thanks for your very prompt and thorough response. So we still need to search elsewhere for our Virginia Brown. Do you think she is the same Virginia in the "other" 1850 census in the household of Theophylus Brown in Muskingum County. I rather think so, whereas I doubted this identification with Virginia Harris.
Thanks again.
