Walter Newton Haskard

Walter Newton Haskard, 83, 600 West Blanchard, South Hutchinson, died May 31, 1988, at Hutchinson Hospital. Born April 29, 1905, at Partridge, he married Grace Esther Rathbun, Sept. 1, 1934, at Hutchinson. She died Dec. 1, 1969. He was a retired sales manager for Producers Dairy and a lifetime area resident.

He was a member of Park Place Christian Church, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Iris Club, all of Hutchinson.

Survivors: son, David W., Hampton, Va.; daughters, Joyce Hunt, Chandler, Ariz., Margaret Janzen, Hutchinson; brothers, Pat, 310 West 27th, fritz, Wichita; sisters, Louise MacArthur, Texas, Edith Harris, Worland, Wyo.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 6 p.m., Wednesday at Johnson & Sons Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Vernon Stout. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery. friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday. Memorials may go to the church.

Mrs. Walter N. Haskard

Mrs. Grace D. Haskard, 61, 3 Hillcrest, died at Grace Hospital Monday night after a sudden illness. Born in Hutchinson on April 18, 1908, she married Walter N. Haskard on Set. 1, 1933, here. She had been an employee of the Carey Salt Company offices for 40 years.

Member of the Park Place Christian Church.

Survivors are: the widower; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Dismey, Missoula, Mont., and Mrs. Margarette Janzen, Columbus, Ga.; son, David w., Hampton, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Sutton, Billings, Mont.; six grandchildren.

The funeral will be 3 p .m. Thursday at the church; Rev. Clarence Doss. burial will be in the Partridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Johnson & Sons from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Prominent Banker Dead at Partridge

Walter R. Haskard, Prominent Partridge banker, farmer and former automobile dealer, died at his home in Partridge Tuesday morning after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon in the Partridge high school auditorium in charge of Dr. Frank Richard. Burial was in the Partridge cemetery.

Mr. Haskard was one of the old times in the Partridge community and had lived there all his life with the exception of about 11 years, when he made his home in Hutchinson and operated the Haskard Automobile agency with his brother, H. J. Haskard.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jessie Haskard, two daughters, Mrs. Louise MacArthur of Lincoln, Nebr., and Mrs. Edith Marie Harris of Hutchinson; five sons, Walter, Jr., Richard and Frederick of Hutchinson, Horatio R. of El Dorado and Herbert E. of Partridge; and a brother, H. J. Haskard of Hutchinson.

All of the children were at his bedside at his death and for several days before.

Mrs. Walter R. Haskard

Mrs. Jessie H. Haskard, 84, 15 East 27th, died at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Hospital after an illness of six months. Born Oct. 3, 1885 at Turkville in Ellis County, she had been a resident of Hutchinson since 1904. She was married to Walter R. Haskard, March 26, 1903 at Enid, Okla. He died Oct 7 1941.

She was a member of the United Trinity Methodist church and the daughters of the American Revolution. she was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors are daughters, Mrs. L. E. Harris Jr., of Worland, Wyo.; and Mrs. d. E. MacArthur, Waco, Tex.; sons, W. N. Haskard, 3 Hillcrest, H. R. Haskard, 38 Random Road, F. L. Haskard, of Wichita, H. E. Haskard, 310 West 27th; sister, Mrs. R. V. Woolwine, Ft. Worth, Tex.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Johnson and Sons Chapel, Rev. Paul Matthaei. burial will be in Partridge Cemetery. Call 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Frederick Louis ‘Fritz’ Haskard

Wichita – Frederick Louis ‘Fritz’ Haskard, 89, died May 12, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born April 12, 1912, at Partridge, the son of Walter and Jessie Turk Haskard. He graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, in 1931. He was owner and operator of a Firestone Tire dealership before retiring. He was a TEC 4 in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Thelma Lee Duley at Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a daughter; granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Presbyterian church, Wichita. burial will be in Partridge Cemetery, Partridge, at a late date.

Memorials may be sent to Grace Presbyterian Church, Wichita.

Hillside Funeral Home East, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

H. R. “Rusty” Haskard, 73, 3100-C Nutmeg Lane, died Monday at Hutchinson Hospital following a short illness.

He was born Feb. 26, 1903, in Reno County and was lifelong area resident. He was a retired contractor and member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Survivors: Daughters: Mrs. Vicki Rogg, 3412 Prairie Hills; Pama Lou Haskard, Dallas, Texas; brothers, W.N. “Tyke” Haskard, Wichita; sister, Louise MacArthur, 15 East 27th; Edith Harris, Worland, Wyo.; four grandchildren.

Horatio John Haskard

Horatio J. (Raich) Haskard, 76, former mayor of Hutchinson, died in Grace hospital at 6:22 p.m. Sunday after a three day illness.

Mr. Haskard was born in Partridge, Apr. 13, 1875, had lived in Hutchinson 36 years. He was active in civic affairs.

He was commissioner of streets here for six years, then was elected mayor in 1929, served two years.

He came to Hutchinson and established the Reo motor car agency. Mr. Haskard had been in the hardware business with a brother in Partridge.

He was a member of Masonic lodge 140, the Elks, Rotary and Odd Fellows.

Mr. Haskard is survived by his widow, Myrtle, of the home, 119 West 12th; a daughter, Mary Ann, Topeka; two sons, John and Frank, both of Hutchison; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson and Sons chapel with dr. Frank Richard officiating. Burial will be in the Partridge cemetery.

There will be a Masonic graveside service.
