Death Notice or Obit for David "Randall" [RANDOL] d Feb 1880

LOOKING for a person knowledgeable of EARLY Phillips Co., KS geography and available resources:

My GGG GF David Randol [surname is often spelled differently] is listed on the 1880 US Federal Mortality Index as "David Randall" b Ohio having died of old age in Crystal Township, Phillips Co., KS Feb 1880. David had lost his wife, Sarah McCord Randol, in 1862. Sarah was buried in Peoria Cem., Story Co., IA. There is no indication that her husband is buried with her.

One of David & Sarah's 13 children, son David J. Randol/Randall, lived in Mound Township, Phillips Co., KS in 1880 [listed on US Census with his wife Minerva (Ewing)] I suspect David J. Randol's father was visiting with him when he died. David J. and Minerva left Kansas after 1880 and were in Monterey Co., California when they died.

MY QUESTIONS/NEEDS:
Is there a possibility that a Phillips Co., KS newspaper, or nearby newspaper, would have reported the Feb 1880 Death of David Randol/Randall? If yes, how might a copy be acquired?

Where might David have been buried in/near Crystal Township, Phillips Co., KS in 1880?

Respectfully yours,
Sally Randol-Hardy

Hi,

IF you're still looking for this info, there are two volunteers for Phillips Co. Their contact info can be found at www.gengathering.com. You do have to create a user ID and password to access this web site but access to the volunteer info is free. Please only choose one of them at a time.

I don't think he married there. I checked the marriage records at http://skywayslib.ks.us/genweb/phillips/plmarkbkindex.html but didn't find his name.

If the volunteer doesn't find anything, the Phillips County Genealogical Society, http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/phillips/plgensoc.html is located there.
I went to school with a Genevieve Limes (a daughter of Doc Limes) who was killed I believe in a car accident many years ago. The number I have for the Logan City Clerk is 785-589-4865 with fax that is 785-689-4868. These numbers were taken from a 2005 Next Tech directory and are probably current. I think Boyd Jr. is a psychologist, but I might be wrong.

Thank you. There was a Boyd Arthur Limes born in 1904 who is deceased. I believe he was a Dr. and he is shown on Find A Grave as being buried at Pleasant View Cemetery. He and his wife, Genevieve had a son, also named Boyd Arthur who was born in 1937 I believe and I believe is still living. I believe the younger Boyd Arthur Limes was married and then divorced from Donna Limes. Do you happen to have the phone number for the city in Logan that you mention? Thank you.

Pleasant View Cemetery is about 2 miles east of Logan, KS. on Hwy 9. Your best bet is to contact the city office in Logan and they maybe able to help you out. There is no full time staff at the cemetery that I am aware of. I know some Limes. Dr. Limes was a long time GP in Logan and died maybe 30 or more years ago. 2004 is a recent death. I live near Logan

Hello, my name is Brenda. My mom and her family went to Agra, and it has some history for sure. We attended the 65th anniversary for her High School reunion this May. I have connections still in Agra, and my mom is still alive, but lives in California now. Thelma Jane Wheelbarger now Koch. I come from the Wheelbarger/Scheuerle families. Please call if you still need additional help. Virginia Munson is still there, Clinton White, and so are many other relatives and friends. Family in Agra Cemetary, Phillips Cemetary, Cedar, etc. hope to hear from you. I am looking for information on Cina and Benjamin Wheelbarger. 702-713-2488

I am seeking information on my great grandmother. She was born Etta Emma Palmer in Phillips Co. 09 July 1874 and died in Grand Island, NE 11 Jul 1952. Her first marriage was to Archie Davis who died in Wyoming sometime in June 1898. (Archie was my great grandfather and I would be very interested in any information on him also.)The children by the Davis union were Otis, Lester and Nora. She had several children by her second husband Ed Green. I believe they were Goldie, Pearl, Ross and possibly several more boys. Her third marriage was to Joseph Warren Davis, and I do not know of any children by that union. I am researching the ancestors of Etta Emma Green and the ancestors of Archie Davis. Thank you in advance for any help.
Judy Davis Moller, 1337 E. Judi Dr., Casa Grande, AZ 85122 email judymoller@cox.net.

My Grandfather was Willim Hainke and owned the Hainke Foundry in Kensington, Ks. His son Paul Wm Hainke, my father, manufactured the first rotary power lawn mowers in Hutchinson, Kansas. The foundry made childrens play equipment, and wheat harvestors. Paul Hainke invented the rotary power lawnmower. All mowers labeled Hainke Manufacturing were from Paul Hainke's manufacturing plant in Hutchinson Kansas. I don't know what Ray Hainke did for a living. Ray and Bill's brother Oscar Hainke had a store selling my dad's mowers in Enid Oklahoma.

There is not a Hiram Post buried in Phillips county that has a marker stating his name. There are at least 6 cemeteries with the surname POST listed as buried there. This includes the one here in Phillipsburg and the one near Glade.

The only Martha Smith buried in Phillips county that has a marker was born in 1838 and died in 1884. We have some people's obits that don't have a marker but none for a Martha Smith.

Re: Titus & Mary Rogers

Titus and Mary Rogers' adopted son William Clyde Rogers was born "Clyde Overton" to Martin Van Buren Overton (1867 - 1926) and Ida C Graff Overton (b. 1868 - d. about 1900) in Nebraska. Martin Overton was a son of James Marion Overton and Mary Loy Waggener Overton. Clyde and his brother Calvin Curtis were adopted out following the death of their mother, who passed away soon after the birth of Clyde. Members of the Overton family had worked for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, who apparently owned a large farm. Calvin was adopted by Waggener cousins, William Taylor West and Leonora Bell Miller West. Apparently, William Clyde Rogers did have some contact with his birth father following his adoption. We have a picture of the two of them, formally posed together, "Van Overton and his son Clyde (Rogers) Overton, taken Sep the 5, 1916, age 49 and 27."

My Grt-Grt Grandfather, Dr. George Washington Brooke lived with his daughter, Hattie Bucklew and Husband Isaac in 1900 in Phillips County, Kansas. After that, we have a copy of a letter from his oldest son saying his father died in a train wreck in Kansas but not when or where. We are still trying to find out. He was 85 years old at the time and was an old horse and buggy doctor, with family all over the West. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Virginia L.
