Titus and Mary Rogers' adopted son William Clyde Rogers was born "Clyde Overton" to Martin Van Buren Overton (1867 - 1926) and Ida C Graff Overton (b. 1868 - d. about 1900) in Nebraska. Martin Overton was a son of James Marion Overton and Mary Loy Waggener Overton. Clyde and his brother Calvin Curtis were adopted out following the death of their mother, who passed away soon after the birth of Clyde. Members of the Overton family had worked for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers, who apparently owned a large farm. Calvin was adopted by Waggener cousins, William Taylor West and Leonora Bell Miller West. Apparently, William Clyde Rogers did have some contact with his birth father following his adoption. We have a picture of the two of them, formally posed together, "Van Overton and his son Clyde (Rogers) Overton, taken Sep the 5, 1916, age 49 and 27."
