John M. Stous, 93, Lenexa, died May 9, 2008, at a Lenexa care center. He was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Holton, the son of William and Nellie Meck Stous. He graduated from Holton High School in 1932 and attended a business college. Mr. Stous worked for a Chevrolet dealership during World War II; during the war he worked at Lake City Ordinance Plant. He later was an accountant and office manager with automotive agencies. He retired from O'Neill Oldsmobile and Honda at the end of 1979. He had been a resident of the Care Center of Lakeview Village since March 2006. He was a member of Meyer Boulevard United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and served there in several capacities, including treasurer for 10 years. He volunteered in the Tax Preparation Program for Senior Citizens and delivered Meals on Wheels for seven years. He and his wife were members of the Mission Slide Club. He married Erma Snyder on Nov. 22, 1941. She survives. Other survivors include two nephews, Bill Haag and wife Marcia and Steve Stous and wife Sharon; and two nieces, Marian Clinkenbeard and Betsy Abernathy and husband Abe. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Katharine Haag and Lucile Schultz; and a brother, Bill Stous. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. May 13 at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. May 13 in Holton Cemetery.
