Scrambled Town Topics - Will Beck, editor: A linotype operator came from an eastern state to work on this newspaper, alongside the editor who has been doing a hitch for some sixty years, and others whose terms of service reach the half century mark. But the newcomer decided not to stay, although his wage checks for the two weeks respectively were $66 and $64.90. Moreover there was an offer to provide him and his family of five a furnished house, the rental of which would seem like peanuts in comparison with similar quarters in any city in the country. But the operator did not think he would be satisfied with the situation here, so he departed.
