Marriage Look-Up Request - Nevius (Nevins)

Respectfully request a look-up on a marriage that would have taken place between 1907-1910 in possibly Finney County on the following:

Percy D Nevius (often indexed as Nevins)
& Bessie C. (Unknown)

I am looking for Bessie's maiden name. They were living in Finney County in the 1910 census & show they had been married one year. I believe Bessie later married my g-grandfather after the death of Percy.

Thank you in advance.

I am taking a shot in the dark in searching for the owner of some dance medals I found in a box of items I purchased recently from an auction in St. Joseph, MO. One of the medals has a label on the case that reads "Marliyn* Kiehl Swing Bronze Int." *the name Marilyn is actually spelled liyn on the label.
If this is something that may belong to the Marilyn Kiehl in this string pf posts and you would like it back - please let me know - I would be delighted to return it. (There were a few trophies also in the box - dated between years 1960-1966, if that helps narrow down any time frames for you.) And if this isn't the right Kiehl, or you aren't interested in the medal- no worries - again, just thought I would at least ask.
Thanks-
Karen Nelson Hicks, Olathe, KS (my home email is kyhicks2006@sbcglobal.net)

I'm sure that was Helen--either the transcriber couldn't read the enumerator's handwriting, or the enumerator just got the wrong name.

The 1890 Territorial Census was not part of the Federal census of that year, and was kept in Oklahoma--therefore it was not in the fire that destroyed almost all of the '90 census.

Thanks for the 1890 census info....thought those were the ones that burned. Mariah must be Helen? I checked the MO deaths also and didn't find him....and the search goes on. Two of the daughter of Helen H. Hudson are still alive and well into their 90's and the son of one of them told me that they know what happened to Louis but no one else knows. Louis' father Aaron Guy Hudson's will didn't speak fondly of him and I think he was involved in a land deal when he was practicing law in OK according to some newspaper articles. Also found just Louis and Sarah living in a rooming house and then Sarah is living with her daughter....thanks so much....stayed tuned.

Sarah Kimble Hudson is listed as a widow on the 1920 census, living in Shelby Co., Tenn., with daughter Helen H. Pope. Sarah died in 1933 in Louisiana, but you probably already know that.

I think I saw the family living in Missouri in 1910, but he is not in the Missouri Death Certificate index (which begins in 1910).

Here is the family in the 1890 O.T. census-note that the youngest was born approximately 1889 in Kansas, so that may very well have been him in the 1889 Finney Co. directory. I think the family lived in Perry, O.T.:

Lou P. Hudson 40 M Michigan
Sarah J. Hudson 40 F Wisconsin
Ada Hudson 17 F Minnesota
Charles Hudson 14 M Minnesota
Louis Hudson 8 M North Dakota
Mariah Hudson 1 F Kansas
I am researching a Louis or Lewis Polydore Hudson 1849-?. I found a LP Hudson listed in the 1889 business directory for Finney County, land attorney, Jones Block, Grant Ave. so of course wondering if this is the L.P. Hudson I am researching. He was also a land attorney in the Oklahoma Territory. Wife was a Sarah Kimble also born in 1849. Children were Ada, Charles Sutherland, Louis D. and Helen H. His family desscendents tell me that they heard nothing more about Louis after 1915...have been unable to find out when and where he died or is buried as of yet...hope some one can help me find Louis.

Hey, I'm a ways down the tree, but Henry is my great-great grandfather. Chances are, you were in contact with my aunt Nina as she's the one most into geneology. So it would be, Henry, then LLoyd H York, Freda York who was my moms mom. I was adopted by my aunt when I was a few months old, but have been back in touch with my biological mom and began building my family history for my children. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreicated.

Thank you,
Anthony Dilks

Tandy I. Tully, age 27, and Louisa Casdorph, age 18, were married in Kanawha Co., West Virginia May 20, 1854. The records said he was a native of Fayette, Virginia and she of Kanawha Co.

Tandy was the son of Tandy (died Nov. 4, 1857, age 73y 6m, at Two Mile Creek, Kanawha Co., WV) and Sarah Taylor Tully. They were married Nov. 27, 1804 in Amherst Co., Virginia.

Louisa was the daughter of Ezariah (born Kanawha Co., died Union District, Kanawha Co., age 84 years) and Mary "Polly" Jones Casdorph (born Monroe Co., WV, died Union District, Kanawha Co., age 67 years). One of Louisa Casdorph Tully's brothers, William Harrison Casdorph, who was a private in the Federal Army, serving as a faithful soldier in the 7th W. Va. Cav., was captured by the Confederates in the Lynchburg, Va., raid, and died in Libby Prison.

Tandy's and Louisa's daughter, Florence, was born Sept. 27, 1857 at Two Mile Creek, Kanawha Co., WV

The only surviving child of Tandy and Louisa Casdorph, at the time of Tandy's death in 1911 was Alonzo Marshall Tully, born March 25, 1855 in Charleston, WV, died March 30, 1952 in Brookfield, Linn Co., Mo. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Brookfield, Mo.

After Louisa's death, he married Mary Ann Edens on June 16, 1864 in Gallia Co., Ohio. She was from Kanawha Co., West Virginia.

Their first child, Miles Edgar Tully was born Sept. 29, 1865 in Kanawha Co., WV, died age two months, Nov. 29, 1865, in Kanahwa Co.

Nannie was born September, 1873 in Missouri. I believe she died in Missouri in 1933. She was living in Buchanan Co., Mo. on the 1920 and 1930 censuses. I found a death certificate for a "Nanie Tully" who died in Buchanan Co., and it gave her usual residence as "Brookfield, Mo.," where her brother Alonzo lived. I have attached that death certificate.

Hello,
I am valiantly trying to find out my great great grandmothers married name and the first name of her first husband, who is my blood line. Rosia Hatfield and a few of her children showed up in Garden City, Finney Kansas in the 1910 census, and she is widowed. Her soon to be husband shows up in Sherlock, Finney Kansas in the 1910 census under Church Sturtevant. They show up in the 1920 census in Butler Kansas as married.
My best guess is that they married closer to 1910 than to 1920, but its really only an educated guess.
I am looking to find a copy of thier marriage certificate or a mention of the marriage in the newspaper, in hopes of getting a hit on Rose's maiden name, or less likely, a hit on who her first husband was and how or where he died? I would assume the marriage would have been in Finney Kansas between 1910 and 1920, closer to 1910.
My name is Shawna King and my email is donandme@gmail.com
If you have any ideas on which way to turn to try and find out this information, please let me know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather's name is Antonio and there were two other daughters born to Jesus and Paula, Dolores and Maria (Maria is the one listed as born in Kansas).

Others listed in the 1925 census are Valeriano (two of them, father and brother to Jesus), Domingo (brother) and Manuel (brother).

I'll add the spelling of "Ansares" as an alternate in my research.
I found a 1925 Kansas census record with my ancestors from Mexico working the farms. It shows my grandfather as a child and it's the only record I've found with his name in the 10 or so years I've been searching for him. Everyone in the family except for the youngest child, a sister, was born in Mexico. The sister is indicated as having been born in Kansas.

Any information about the Anzures family in or around Sherlock, Finney, Kansas on and after 1925 is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

There are three BRINLEY burials in Finney County. Flora is not one of them; nor was there a local obituary for her in the Garden City newspaper.

Suggest you obtain the CA death certificate for Flora - she died in Los Angeles County on 12 Feb 1953.

Lot	236
Space	3
Zone	A
Status	Interred
Cemetery	VVC
LinkID	ZAL236S3VVC
Deceased	BRINLEY, BERTHA ERNESTINE EARLY
First Name	BERTHA ERNESTINE EARLY
Last Name	BRINLEY
Date Of Burial 1/5/1972 12:00:00 AM
Placement
Container	39
Funeral Home	326
Monument Co.	0
Setting Date
Owner Name	BRINLEY, ALLEN
First Name	ALLEN
Last Name	BRINLEY

Lot	236
Space	4
Zone	A
Status	Interred
Cemetery	VVC
LinkID	ZAL236S4VVC
Deceased	BRINLEY, ALLEN
First Name	ALLEN
Last Name	BRINLEY
Date Of Burial 10/5/1954 12:00:00 AM
Placement
Container	137
Funeral Home	326
Monument Co.	0
Setting Date
Owner Name	BRINLEY, ALLEN
First Name	ALLEN
Last Name	BRINLEY

Lot	236
Space	5
Zone	A
Status	Interred
Cemetery	VVC
LinkID	ZAL236S5VVC
Deceased	BRINLEY, SAMUEL
First Name	SAMUEL
Last Name	BRINLEY
Date Of Burial 3/29/1930 12:00:00 AM
Placement
Container	0
Funeral Home	0
Monument Co.	0
Setting Date
Owner Name	BRINLEY, ALLEN
First Name	ALLEN
Last Name	BRINLEY

Burial location of Flora Mariah (Haun) Brinley

I am searching for the burial location of Flora Mariah Haun. She was born in 1887 to Barbara Amacher and Andrew Haun. Barbara married William Henry Lighty shortly after the birth of Flora. Flora married Samuel Brinley in 1908. Samuel was buried in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, KS. Flora is believed to have died in Los Angeles Co, CA in 1953. Her son Allen Luke Brinley was living in San Diego Co, CA at the time. Allen was buried in Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Diego Co. Flora might have been buried in either of these two cemeteries. Thank you for any help.

Zachariah Nelson

to Mr. Burleson----- I was wondering if the Zachariah Nelson that you posted about was originally from Laurens County, S. C.? The Zachariah that I seek was born there circa 1848-49. if this is the same person, he was a long way from his roots. Two of his brothers were Henry Tillman Nelson and Wm. Adolphus Nelson. It would be a pleasure to hear from you. Thanks, Ann C.Davis

Myra,
Sorry it's been almost a year since you replied to my inquiry. Been busy, had to move, etc.

Ancestry.com has been around for how long?
I would love to get more info on my family. I apologize about the Mormon comment. I am just concerned that, even a small group, may use the ancestor info in a way that my grandparents and family might find unacceptable.

Can you tell me who supports this site?
Sorry to be so paranoid but, again, I'm looking after my families wishes. So any info you could send me would be helpful. You can eve send me a note directly to my personal email.

Thank you for your reply of a year ago.

Diana

It is often misunderstood, but we pay for the research (work) -- not for positive results. It would be wonderful if all our requests for information resulted in the information we hope to find, but that is often not the case. Unless we have the money and time to go to the repository that has the actual records of our ancestors, or can find the information has been microfilmed, digitized or compiled in a publication, so we can access in that format, we must rely on someone else to do this work for us, whether it be someone at the local library, archives, genealogical/historical society or whether we hire a professional or can get a kind cousin or friend. Regardness, positive RESULTS are never guaranteed in any search.

--Myra Vanderpool Gormley

I have forwarded this information to the person whose grandfather this is, and recommended she take a chance. I was amazed that the society does not do email, and I used an inappropriate tone. This was not directed at you but the society's policies. I am sorry for any offense. I see from your other posts that you often give free assistance to others, as I was trying to do here. Thank you for your assistance.

And I did not take it that you were jumping on me. I also thanked you for your thoughtful reply. You were right that my original reply had the wrong tone, and I would not do it that way again, much better would have been they don't have email? It was late I was tired, and I thought the poster was drumming up business for the local GS. I see from other posts this is not the case, and that the poster often responds to other requests. While my reaction was rude the rudeness was directed at the GS not the poster, and it did not include personal insults. I will relay the information that the GS may have information to the person who might be willing to pay for it. Does anyone know how thorough the records are? I find that these records are often spotty. The ones I deal with in MI are about 50-50 for births.
