It is often misunderstood, but we pay for the research (work) -- not for positive results. It would be wonderful if all our requests for information resulted in the information we hope to find, but that is often not the case. Unless we have the money and time to go to the repository that has the actual records of our ancestors, or can find the information has been microfilmed, digitized or compiled in a publication, so we can access in that format, we must rely on someone else to do this work for us, whether it be someone at the local library, archives, genealogical/historical society or whether we hire a professional or can get a kind cousin or friend. Regardness, positive RESULTS are never guaranteed in any search.
