SERENDIPITY - In the "Family Tree Magazine," published in England, (Feb. 1995 issue) was a "Pass It On" column with a letter by Bob Richardson, 50 Wentworth Crescent, Ash Vale, Aldershot, Hants GU12 5LF, who had discovered the 1963 diary of Mrs. Jennie R. Strong in a London book shop.
The diary gave a daily account of life covering four months of a visit to Beirut, Lebanon, where her daughter and son-in-law (Isobel and John Fistere) apparently lived, as well as the rest of the year back home in what appeared to be "Vineland", Kansas."
Looking at my encyclopedia, I note that there is a Vinland, in Douglas Co., KS. Anyone know of a Vineland?
Bob Richardson wanted to pass the diary on to anyone who could provide a connection for the purchase price of 50p plus postage. Perhaps he still can be reached at that address, still has Mrs. Strong's diary or recalls some of the entries. If not, the information above may give a clue or two to a Strong or Fistere researcher.
