Ewing Herbert was born on Oct. 10, 1866 in New Salem (Fayette Co.), PA. As of 1904, he lived in Hiawatha (Brown Co.), KS. On Nov. 9, 1904, he joined the Sons of the American Revolution, on behalf of the service of his Revolutionary War ancestor, Benajah Strong.

Ewing Herbert is reported to have died in 1947, presumably in Brown Co., KS.
