Hmm. Shamefully, I have to admit that I didn't look as closely at Martin and his family as you did with what you found in the censuses. I'm going to have to start over because it looks like I've been following the wrong family. My Hattie is in the 1900 Missouri census as a 19-year-old servant along with her 3-year-old son, Hobart.
