Yes, I too found the lack of household grouping to be a frustration. On the plus side though, the index does provide the COUNTY of birth, for those born in Iowa. This was very helpful to me.

I could not find microfilm of the original 1885 census schedules available anywhere. Does anyone know IF film exists, and where it might be rented or viewed?
