hi there,

My understanding is that there are no official records of acoptions in the early days of Greeley, Weld, Colorado. I have been searching myself for an adoption of two children Will and Nannie Smith to a James and Sarah McAfee. When I called the county they told me that records of adoptions were not kept that early. (before 1880), You might find some help on the Weld County Master Index online or the Greeley or Evans Museum if you can find them open. I'm still trying to get into the Evans Museum. They were closed because of funding.

Rita Conley

Rita McAFee Conely

I saw your tree and tried to contact you, but my hotmail wouldn't cooperate.

I believe that the Meyer[s] is my Mary Meyer. According to census she is listed as 1852 and 1847 birth. However her immigration is similar listed as 1850-2. [sorry I have forgotten which]That part must be incorrect. If it is my woman she immgrated 1869 right along with her brother Friedrich meyer.
Now I am wondering if Fehring and Garrison ever held railroad swamp land property in Highland or Churdan area of Greene county. [google it and you will see court cases for Mary Fehring] Tenant Friedrich Meyer.

I had a gentelman relative in Minnesota about 1980 telling me family history. He mentioned the Hand surname as well as the Carr name. [There were Carr and Fehring in Jackson county Iowa. and several other surnames mentioned in your tree. I have some info on my [blogspot.com] same name as my email [arootdigger] at gmail.com

Her other sister married Stile or Stille. [Margaret] Maybe died in Chicago fire]

Ren E. PRESTON [aka Lorenzo E Preston?]

According to the 1925 IA State Census for Union County, Platte Township, Ron/Ren E. PRESTON was born in IA, the son of Alfred M. PRESTON (born WI) and Emma McINTIRE (born IA).

Ren E. PRESTON was born c1891. Laura/Lora LARSON was born circa 1890.

Based on the names of his parents, I believe that Ren E. PRESTON's given name was Lorenzo E. PRESTON. In 1900, a Lorenzo E. PRESTON was enumerated with parents Alfred M. and Emma G. in Platte, Union, Iowa. His birthdate is given as Sep. 1890. In the 1895 IA State Census, he was enumerated as "Wren PRESTON" (age 4) in Platte, Union, IA. (I believe Ren may have been named after his grandfather, as Alfred's father also was named Lorenzo PRESTON.

Iowa, Births and Christenings Index, 1857-1947 about Robert Mason Preston
Name:	Robert Mason Preston
Birth Date:	22 Apr 1923
Birth Place:	Platte Twp, Union, Iowa
Father's Name:	Ben [sic] E Preston
Mother's Name:	Lara Melinda Larson
FHL Film Number:	1710696

Since you have a specific death date and probable death location of Union County, you can contact the Union County courthouse (Dept. of vital records) to request a copy of Ren/Lorenzo E. PRESTON's death certificate and discover his cause of death.

Maddie, I am not of any relation. As for Ellen, I too noticed she is missing from the census. No immigration papers were found on line either for the Klein family. I find it puzzling. Even if no immg. papers, usually there is a record of passenger lists; this this was not found.
As for Cork, I took that from the family tree. As for the other records I gave you, they were straight from the census. If memory serves me correctly, Corneilus listed himself as a farmer.

Hi Joyce,
In your listing of children, you do not have Delia/Bridget, born abt 1860, who was my great grandmother. Can I ask how you are related? I am trying to figure out what happened to the other children, where they went, etc. The only one I know about is Ellen. Also, cannot find immigration records. I contacted Catholic churches in Creston and Mt. Pleasant, but they had no records of the Brennans as members. I figure Martin may hv worked on the railroad wh/went thru those towns. I have no idea where in Ireland they came from, altho family says there was some mention of Cork. If you hv any info/photos to share, I wud be thrilled!

Maddie

Dear All,

I am doing some research about a 2nd Lt Robert Mason Preston who died in a plane crash in Burghill England in August 1944 during WWII. I live in Burghill and together with a friend we have been campaigning for a plaque to remember the 10 American Airmen who died that day (hence the research). We have gained very good support for the plaque, we are also trying to organise a remembrance service in November this year.

Robert was born in Union County Iowa in 1923, he had one brother called Ralph, born in 1925, they were raised by their mother (Lora or Laura Preston nee Larson) in California.

I recently identified Robert’s father as “Ren Preston” born 8th Sep 1890 in Union County IA. He married Lora sometime between 1921 and 1925 but sadly died on the 14th Sep 1926.

I was wondering if anybody knew where I could find more info about “Ren Preston” an Obit perhaps or better a reason for his early death!

Kind regards

Jerome

Hi!
I have an 1880 Federal Census showing my ancestor, Martin Brennan and his family living in Creston. His daughter, Delia, was my great grandmother. I have no other info re the family, except that Martin and his wife, Hannah, along with Delia and another daughter, Ellen, eventually ended up in Omaha. I don't know what happened to the other siblings or what part of Ireland Martin came from.

If you hv any info abt this family, it would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Maddie

I always find these open, public message boards a good source of information and useful connections where genealogical information of a public nature can be shared and kept track of nicely for any number of people who are researching. If you prefer private messages, that's fine with me.

At first the only Susanna I seemed to have any info for was Susanna Schweitzer b. abt. 1741, daughter of Andreas Schweitzer who lived in Pennsylvania. Then I found Susanna Schitz who married Andrew Switzer, but this was in PA. Their son David was born in 1817, also in PA (David died in MO, and his 5 kids went back to PA). As far as I can tell, these Switzers are in PA and then North Dakota before coming to Oregon. Do you have any further details on the Susannah you are looking for who married a Switzer?

If anyone could give me information on some of the Sevier family in Union Co. Iowa I would appreciate it. I know where they are buried, and dates but if there are any articles or background info on the family I would love to know. My great grandpa was an only child and I have been told did not have much of a relationship with his family, my grandma did not know them and only met them once or twice. Anyway, any information on Isaac T. Sevier, b. 1862 would be welcome. I have no record where he died but is belived to be a railroad accident. He was a worker. No idea what state. He was married to Isabel (Lizzie) Boggs, b. 1867 d. 1940 in California. Looking for any info on John D. Sevier and Julia F. Rains as well. They are parents of Isaac. Died in Union, Co. and buried in Graceland Cemetary. I would just like to know anything about these family members so if you could help me out I would love it. Thanks!

And I thank you for replying so soon. The answer is YES, I would like to see the picture which you offered. I am still new at being with Ancestry.com and learning how to navigate everything. I have met most of the Bergerson family and have a picture of Bessie but still have to learn how to send. Did you know any of them? Bessie was an attractive woman and lived quite a long time. Herschel was married to a full-blooded Indian woman, who was quite elegant in her attire. My mother talked often of the other siblings.
Nellie was married to Hamilton Wooldridge. He died at 31 about when his son was born. This was in Kentucky. She brought my grandfather, Frank H., to Iowa in a covered wagon. Other than that, I don't know anything about her heritage except that I was told she was a Quaker. I have a picture of her also.
It was so nice to hear from you.

Carolyn Ricardi
carricar@astound.net

Thank you so much for answering. I had about given up hope of hearing from anyone. My grandmother was Matilda Bergersen Persels, a sister of Gustave who married Nellie Baird. I have a picture of Frank Wooldridge with the Bergersen children. If you do not have that picture will be glad to send you a copy if you will give me your Email address. Mine is MVoss730@aol.com. I have tried to find out more about Nellie and her family in White County, Illinois to no avail. Frank's family is easier to trace.
