I'm researching the family of Rev. Joseph & Sarah(HAFFIELD) HOWARD--my g-g-g grandparents. And you are right they lived in DeWitt Co.,IL. Belle HOWARD DAVENPORT is their grand daughter--daughter of Rev. William & Sarah (SHORT) HOWARD. William was my g-g grandmother's brother.


Since writing that query I have had wonderful help from Mike Malerich as well as a volunteer "angel" named Shirley on the Union Co.,IA website (USGen web). Shirley gave me lots of help as did Mike.


You are right about the German ancestry. In the Union Co.,IA birth record for Djalma and Belle's daughter Ora it says that Djalma was of German ancestry and that Djalma's occupation was a lawyer.
