Kathy,

I would greatly appreciate any information you have about my grandfather. The family lost track of him once he returned from World War I. I have one picture of him and his pay book "Canadian Expeditionary Force". My father Ken Hudson lived in Sidney, Iowa from the late 1940's until his death in 2002. My grandmother Sylvia lived in Sioux City and passed away in the late 1950's I believe. If it's not to much trouble I would appreciate any information you may have. My email address is thudson9@tx.rr.com. My address is 2708 Creek Crossing Dr, McKinney, Texas 75070. Thank you and regards to your family.

Respectfully

Tom

I'm looking for obits, death records or cemetery location for Elias Platte Jenison and wife Martha(Summers) Jenison. Martha died sometime between 1900-1910 and Elias died after 1920. After Martha's death the family was split up. Elias was born in 1855 and Martha was born in 1869 in Iowa. They were married in 1889 in Sioux county and had three children, Myrtle born 1890, Estella born 1892 and Merle born 1900. If there are any birth records on the children I would love that info. If anyone has any suggestions on where to look for this info i.e. newspapers, cemeteries, city directories etc. I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Brittaney
britt12277@aol.com

However, I am sorry, but I do not have her parents information yet to share.
Do you have her husband's information? I have heard that he not only served in the Civil War, but was shot in the head, the bullet was not recoverable, he not only survived, but went on to marry three times and have 13 children. Do you have any documentation on what battles the 33rd Iowa fought in and where he was wounded?
Thank you!
Magi Van Eps

Have lots of other info on William Hodge, (census, marriage, family, migration from Canada to Iowa to SD to OK, etc.,)but cannot find his parents' names.
Jacob Jan is also my great-great-grandfather. Thank you for the wonderful articles and information on him- especially the results of the Mayoral Race in 1902. His son Jacob Koolbeck, my great grandfather, apparently was black-sheep of family; I'm not aware of the story behind this. He changed his last name to Dickson. I have seen the original obituary article from 1908 for Jacob Koolbeck- It was noted at the end of the article that my great-grandfather did not attend the his funeral, so there must have been quite a conflict with him and the Koolbeck family. Send me your email address and I can send you much more information, I have traced this back to the Netherlands and have several generations of information.
Was looking over the document and where you were questioning the address of LO in my opinion looks like a "D" especially when compared to where Willem van Dijk's name is recorded towards the beginning of the record. I think the "D"'s match pretty well.

This almost makes me feel like I've been in the Netherlands digging through old books!

I had most of the family info through www.genlias.com but could not find her birth record so I really appreciate your taking the time to post the link AND the translation for me.

Genlias has been a great source of info but I have to say that seeing a page out of an old book where it was first written down is a whole lot more fun to study!

Gratefully,
Shelise Houge

Hi

Almost all original birth and marriage records (from 1811 till around 1900-1910) of the Netherlands are online.
They can be found on Familysearch.org, But if you can’t read Dutch it is difficult to find the correct birth or marriage document.

Translation of the birth document of Marregien:

Today on the twenty-seventh of September eighteenhundred fifty-two came to me Johannes Jacobus van Ingen, alderman, Civil Servant of the registry office of the municipality Kampen:
Willem van Dijk, fifty years old, profession farm laborer, residing in Eiland, municipality Kampen, with two witnesses the first Antonie Johan Baars, thirty-eight years old, profession male midwife, living in Kampen and second Joannes Lukas van ‘t Oever, forty-four years old, profession grocer, living in Kampen, he declared that his wife Hillegje Sellis, without profession, residing in Eiland, municipality Kampen, Letter LO?, number thirty-nine, gave birth on the twenty-five of this month, at eleven o’clock in the morning, of a female child with the name of Marregien.
We created this record and after reading the document is signed by me, the first party and the witnesses.

Note:
Eiland municipality Kampen is actualy named Kampereiland (Island of Kampen)

And I found the official marriage record of W. van Dijk and H. Sellis.
I am looking for more information on Jacob J Koolbeck my great great grandfather who lived in Hospers, IA. Looking at his gravestone I noticed it said "the first mayor of Hospers, IA" Does anyone have any information on this or pictures of his family? Peggy Robbins
