John William's father could not have been Cornelius, at least not my great-grandfather Cornelius. There were many Cornelius' and John's in the family. Cornelius had two brothers John and William, who lived in Shelby County. Will see what I can find. Bonnie

I am wondering if Arthur Van Arsdol was married. In Logan Cemetery there are Arthur and Ethel Van Arsdol. Also when they might have moved from Shelby County to Harrison County. Bonnie

Does the H. in this family stand for Harper? Am a great grandchild of Charles Harper Ferguson, son of Daniel. Any connection?

Hello Paula, The H you asked about is middle name of Charles Herron Ferguson. He was named after his Uncle by marriage, Charles Herron, whose family was from Ireland. Also none of his 8 brothers were named Harper. Named the following: Robert E.; George T.; Jasper J; Edward; Joseph D.; 3 1/2 brothers named: Samuel; James & Hal. The bro's lived in Monroe Co., Jasper Co.; and Shelby. They were all born in Adams Co. IL and Jasper Co. IA. Where in IA did you Fergusons live and what state the generation before?

Sarah, Well first let me say I am stupid! My Charles Harper was the son of Elias, not Daniel; My mistake.David was the father of Elias and David was married to Susan/Sarah ?. Have no idea where David was from. Susan was born in PA in 1776. All the info I have on that. Elias born in Putnam Co,VA abt 1810.
We cannot seem to find out where this line was from. Have two Ferguson lines in my Family, this one is on the Paternal side; and as far as I can tell after searching continually since 1977, no connections can be made to the Maternal Fergusons. I am directly decended from Samuel Ferguson & Mary Jameson Ferguson of Tazewell Co,VA. If you can find anything that might help me locate this other side, would appreciate it.Know they came from Ireland, but when or how, is the question.
Thanks, Paula

Paula, I just read your message on David Ferguson. I to have been looking for information. Elias and David P. were brothers. My husband's family is off the David P. Line. He was born 02/12/1817 in VA. Another brother is John Johnson Ferguson, I believe their family went to TX. I have some of the other brothers too. I have the information from a Ferguson cousin that David was married to Susanna Lanham on 09/17/1804 Amherst, Nelson Co. VA. I haven't been able to find anything more. Email me if you find anymore or if you want some of the other Ferguson Information. There is a couple of websites I could give you too.

Mary,
I am so excited to hear from you. I'm not absolutely sure, but we believe a picture I have, is of Elias Ferguson. It was on a very small tintype that my father rolled up and told me to dispose of, as he couldn't see anyone or anything on it. Since I am a "packrat" of sorts, and always interested in my family roots, I disobeyed him and am certainly glad now, that I did. There was a paper under this tintype that said Elias Ferguson, but I no longer can find that. Ergo, my assumption it is Elias. It might be David for all we know. Dad is now deceased, so there is nobody to identify it other than the paper I saw.
If you will email me with your personal address, either email or regular home, at my other addy, I will be happy to share some of the old photos I have of my line. Who knows, we might just figure this all out!

Awaiting your reply,

P.S. By the way, I live in Texas so I might be able to dig up something here about John.
