Toreson Family Lost Island Township

Surnames: Toreson
I am looking for Toreson brothers (I believe) from Norway. Runte born 1824, Knut born 1825, Simon born 1828, Lars (Larse) born 1843, in Norway. All show on census in Palo Alto County , Iowa 1880. Particularly interested in Runte whose son was Charles ( maybe C.K. Toreson) born 1871 in Wisconsin. All this is census information and sometimes difficult to put the families together. I believe Charles' daughter is Emma Marie born 1899 in Lost Island Township, Palo Alto County, Iowa. Emma Marie Toreson married Dwight Kooker. They were my grandparents.

Charles and Emma seem to have no records.

I woiuld appreciate any information.

Chery

I am Roger Thorson from Graettinger, Palo Alto County, IA, and am the great grandson of Lars Thoreson who was listed in your query. Lars is not related to any of the others listed who are brothers. I have forwarded your request to a great grandaughter of Simon Thoreson who lives in Texas. If you do not here from her I can give you what information that I have.

Inger ( Thoreson ) Duhn was a sister to my great grandfather Lars Thoreson. I have their ancestors back into the mid 1500s, also have the Duhn family back into the mid 1700s. Don't have much on Thore Bertinus Duhn descendents, but have quite a bit on Anna ( Duhn) Iverson descendents. I will send as much of this information as you would like.

Thank you. I have received information from you before and it has been very helpful. The earliest Thoreson (my grand mother's spelling of the name) I have is Vebjorn Ramsrud Knutsen 1733. Knud Thoreson and Auslang Thoresdatter Anna Kassa are my GGGrandparents. My latest quest is finding more information on Carl (Charles) Thoreson's wife (my Great grandmother, Anna Marie Thompson. I think her parents were Leroy and Mary from Denmark

My grandfather was Thore Bertinus Duhn, my grandmother is Marie Sanvik Duhn. I am the second youngest grandchild out of 36. My father was the second youngest of 9 children and did not marry until he was 36. My grandparents had a farm near the town of Vining, Minnesota. Mostly what i know of him is that is graduated from St. Olaf's, and he was a farmer, but not a particularly good one. He preferred books, politics and was a lay Lutheran minister. I have heard a story of an uncle Pete and have picture of him in a large fur coat. I have always wondered who this person was and how he is related since I thought may grandfather only had a sister, Anna.

My father's name was Alfred Roseland and his father's name was Sam Roseland and his mother's name was Anna Sanvik Roseland. He spoke of his Aunt "Mary" Duhn all of the time and I wrote letters for him to her I'm pretty sure it was Vining, MN. My father's family moved from IA to St. James, MN. I know that I am related to the Duhn's, and would love to correspond with you and obtain any additional information. I did receive, many years ago, somewhat of a famiy history from a Mrs. Duhn Horn who lived on the east coast and at the moment, I don't have her first name handy. I have a picture of the Roseland School District in Lost Island Township. Any information you can share would be extremely appreciated!

Your response was posted a while ago. So I don't know if you will get this. My mother just passed away and so did Elaine (Duhn) Horn just prior to her. So I am digging up the family information to give to a nephew that I met at her family. I have been out of contact with my brother (Thore John Duhn) for many year and thought it would be nice to give him some information. I had the info that Elaine did once, but it was lost years ago. If would be nice to find it again. tejadafamily@att.net. Thanks!

Inger (Inga) Hovde Thoreson is my grandfathers mother,
My great grand mother. He had a sister Anna Sorine and I believe a son named Peter Iverson who used to come to Minnesota and help my grandfather with the harvesting.
