Was born in Bireland, Bavaria around 1820. Appears as head of household in Palo Alto, Iowa in 1880. was married to "Mary" who was born in Prussia. Listed are children George, Joseph, Adam, Matilda, Frances, Annie, Martha, Sophronia, John, and Allen. Many of the children remained in Palo Alto and appear in 1900 and 1910 census.
