John Capan, 83, of Davenport, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Trinity North Medical Center in Davenport.
Services will be at Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Davenport.
Mr. Capan was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Centerville, the son of George and Mary Brletic Capan. He married Ona B. Miller on March 12, 1976, in Davenport.
He was employed at International Harvester in Rock Island for over 20 years retiring in the mid 1970's.
Survivors include his wife, Ona of Davenport; three step-daughters, John Nazarenus and her husband, John, of Davenport, Burdet and Mary Voss of Ely and Betty Bauer of Clinton; a stepson, Howard Schmelzer and his wife, Anna Mae of Muscatine; 15 step grandchildren; and 18 step great-grandchildren.
Ona B. Capan, 89, Clinton, formerly of Davenport and Muscatine, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, at Bluff Terrace Nursing Home, Clinton.
Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Capan was born May 12, 1917, in Eliza, Ill., the daughter of Harry J. and Minnie (Johnson) Miller.
Ona Miller was united in marriage to Ralph Schmelzer. She later married John Capan.
She was employed at HJ Heinz, Muscatine and later at Muscatine General Hospital.
She enjoyed shopping, dancing and polka music.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Anna Mae Schmelzer, Muscatine; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and John Nazarenus, Casa Grande, Ariz.; daughter, Mary and Burdy Voss, Ely, Ia.; daughter, Betty Bauer, Clinton; eight grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alberta Schmelzer, Muscatine, Bernice Paysen, Elvira, Iowa, Delores Gritton, Russelville, Ark. and a brother, Rusty Miller, Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers and four sisters.
