Looking for any information on Lyman C. PATTERSON who settled with his family in Mills Co., IA before the 1860 Census. His wife was Lovina PRICE, could have gone by Prudence. Their children were Elizabeth, Levi, John Dunbar,
Martha, Louisa, Lyman C., Jr, and Alice.

A short biography of Lyman C. Patterson is in the 1985 Mills County History. Lyman C. Jr. is buried in the Hillsdale Cemetery. On the same page is a John Patterson b. 1812 and wife Mary Albin. Maybe a brother of Lyman C. ??
If you need further info on these items let me know.

Do you have any other information on Lyman Patterson. Specifically where in Vermont he was born. I'm trying to find a Lyman Dunbar and i find it unusual his name is Lymand Patterson but his son John's middle name is Dunbar. I believed the branch I was looking for came from the Vermont area. Your message is outdated but I hope to hear from you.

Just saw your posting. I haven't found a Lyman Dunbar Patterson, but like you...saw Lyman Curtis Patterson with son John Dunbar Patterson. I'm descended from John Dunbar. John married Martha Evaline Spalding, and their first son was Calvin Albert Patterson (with slightly younger twin of Alvin Delbert Patterson). Calvin Albert married Mary Magdalena Ehrmann, and their youngest son was Calvin Henry Patterson. He married Barbara Doreen Young and I'm their oldest son, Keith Lee Patterson.

So...I have some info of descendents of Lyman Curtis, but nothing going back to his ancestors yet.

Have you ever heard of a Lyman Dunbar? I have been told that Lyman had a brother Michael. They lived around the Whitehall NY and Orwell VT areas. Lyman was killed in the Civil War. Lyman would have been born in the late 1830's and died in 1864. I have also found record of another Lyman Dunbar from the west side of NY who also died in the Civil War on a ship in the Gulf of Mexico. However, he would have been born around 1820 or earlier.

Sorry...I wish I had more information. Seems to me it's inevitable that Lyman Curtis Patterson must be related to Lyman Dunbar Patterson, especially since Lyman had a son he named John Dunbar Patterson.

Lyman Curtis had a brother whose first name was John, so that lends even more probability that these are all related. Lyman C. was born in Vermont in 1815, and died in Mills County, Iowa in 1858. So I'm pretty sure this isn't just a name-cross thing.
