I'm looking for information beyond what I can find online regarding the McMillen Family that I will describe--primarily because I'm trying to figure out the parents of John Marshall McMillen. The family lived in Glenwood, Iowa about 1879. Although John McMillen may have been from Glenwood before he married his wife in 1878 in Indianola. John's association with the hardware business is a possibility.

John Marshall McMillen born around 1846-1849 in Ohio--don't know where, don't know who his parents were. Glenwood, Iowa, might be a place to begin looking.

John Marshall McMillen marries Harriett Shepherd in 1878 in Indianola, Warren County (marriage record online) I have a lot on Harriett's Shepherd family--and she's buried in Indianola where she had lived prior to the marriage.

First son Clinton born in 1879 in Glenwood, Mills County, Iowa--family seems to have been there only a short while. Although, I wonder if John was living in Glenwood because that's where he was working and where he lived before he married Harriett. By the way, is there a record of Clinton's birth in Glenwood (Feb 10, 1879)? Church christening perhaps?

Second son Henry born in 1880 in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, birth record for Henry and 1880 census confirm residence

A few years later (perhaps 1883) family moves to Dallas County, Iowa. Lived primarily in Perry. Third child (a daughter) Mary Frances was born in Minburn, Dallas County, Iowa in 1891.

According to Clinton McMillen's obituary the family moved soon after to Victor, Iowa. Hattie died in 1894--I assume in Victor. By the late 1890s the family had moved to Oklahoma.

Thanks!
