I found Adam and his family in the 1880 census in Chariton. Its surprising as all other census records and family memory have him in the New York City area. Any suggestions on what might have brought a produce dealer in his late 20s, his wife, and three children under 10 out to Chariton from the east coast before the 1880 census? I have him back east by 1895.
