I've got a birth date of 22 Jan 1853 for Thomas Reynolds, but I haven't been able to find in my notes where this information came from. As for my relationship to him, I believe that he is my first cousin fourth removed if his parents are Isaac and Matilda (Campbell?) Reynolds b. 1811, shown in the 1850 Borough of Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania census. My 4th great-grandfather William C. Campbell b. 1817 (lived in Farmers Creek Township, Jackson County, Iowa) and Matilda may be siblings to Eliza Campbell Waddle b. 1826 (who also lived in Farmers Creek Township, Jackson County, Iowa) who had adopted Thomas Reynolds when Eliza and John Waddle lived in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. I don't know if there were any formal legal proceedings for such an adoption in those days if the child was a close relative such as a nephew, but that might be another avenue to look for in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
