Kristi Kay (Wright) Vogel was born August 24, 1960, to Edward and Betty (Betchel) Wright in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was raised in Council Bluffs and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1979. She then began her career in the restaurant business working at A&W, Taco Johns and Burger King. Kristi married Brian Kilby on August 30, 1976, and the couple was blessed with three children, Brian and twins Matthew and Melissa. Kristi married Anson Troy Vogel on November 19, 1999, in Council Bluffs. The couple was blessed with three girls, Shawna, Kendra, and Erica. The family moved to Woodbine in 2005.

Kristi was a member of the United Methodist Church in Woodbine. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and camping. She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing karaoke and collecting cookie jars. Kristi was known for making delicious dirt cakes, goulash, chicken and beef noodle soup and a great roast. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Kristi died April 5, 2012, at her home in rural Woodbine, Iowa at the age of 51 years, seven months, and 12 days.

Kristi was preceded in death by her parents and grand-parents. She is survived by her husband, Troy Vogel of Woodbine, Iowa; six children, Brian (Jennifer) Bogacz and Matthew (Kimberly) Bogacz all of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Melissa (Natalie) Vazquez of Omaha, Nebraska, and Shawna, Kendra, and Erica Vogel all of Woodbine, Iowa; five grandchildren, Cynthia, Vanessa, Alex, Victoria "Tori" and Vincent "Vinny;" five siblings, Edward (Karen) Wright Jr. of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Connie (Steven) Perrine of Honey Creek, Iowa, Vicki (Lewis II) Davids of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Cindy (Tom Bond) Grego of Omaha, Nebraska, Dennis (Cathy) Wright of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
