"Lacks three years of Century"

MRS. MARY (PICKERING) MARSHALL, old resident of this county, dies Thursday evening at Union.

The death of Mrs.Mary Marshall, known thruout Marshall and Hardin counties by her friends as "Aunt Mary Marshall," will be learned with regret by many old settlers of this county. Mrs.Marshall died Thursday evening at 6 o'clock at the home of her son, Levi Marshall, at Union, at the age of 97 years.

Mrs.Marshall was born in Tennessee of good old Quaker stock, May 10, 1805. She was married in her native state, and forty years ago, started with her husband, Jesse Marshall, on an overland journey west. Mr.Marshall died in Indiana, enroute, and his widow, with her large family of children, came on to the original destination, Marshall County, and located in Bangor Township. There Mrs. Marshall has lived all these years, until recently, when she went to Union to make her home with her son. Mrs.Marshall was stricken with paralysis a few days ago, which resulted in her death.

Mrs.Marshall was mother to twelve children, five of whom are living. They are Levi Marshall of Union; William, of Glenwood; Calvin of Colorado Springs; James of Omaha, and Jared Marshall of California. Mrs.Marshall was a member of the Marshall County Old Settlers Association, and until the last few years, has always made it a point to attend the annual gatherings of the association in this city.

The funeral will be held Sunday forenoon at 11 a.m. from the Bangor Friends Church. Ezra Pierson of Earlham, officiating.
