The name of A.V. is most certainly "Ashbel Van Scyoc" and his wife Sarah Ann Farley, daughter of Thomas & Margaret Ferguson Farley.

It is believed that the KEELERS and MUSTARD's in Fremont Co., IA were his relatives and all (this is unverified but highly circumstantial) were children of Cornelius and Almira VAN SCYOC (Almira had a reletaive named Ashbel Goodrich).

Ashbel and Sarah were married in Holt Co., Mo at a time when that area was, along with several other Missouri counties in some dispute with Iowa. AT the same time in nearby counties of Andrew, Buchanan, and other counties in MO. Sarah's brothers Charles Anderson and Jackson were also married.

Ashbel and Sarah's children were:
Margaret Ann Van Scyoc (md a SHIRLEY; d. KS)
Franklin Van Scyoc (d. CA)
Jackson Van Scyoc (d. CA)
Thomas Benton or Benjamin Van Scyoc (md a CLAPPER; d. CA)
Almira Van Sycoc (md a BECKWITH & d. in WY)
