Sorry, I messed the previous post all up. Martha is living with Titus Tish(Fish) in Benton Co. IA in 1860. Titus' wife is Electra, a daughter of Edmund AND Sarah Town. Mary Hare is living with Edmund and Sarah in Shabbona Grove, IL in 1860. It is Edmund and Sarah who are buried in Floyd Co.

Sorry for the confusion. Any help on this would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on Martha Hare (~1849-?) who was the daughter of Henry Hare (~1810-?). Martha was born in Shabbona Grove, DeKalb Co. IL. It appears that Henry and his wife died sometime between 1850 and 1860 as their daughters Martha and Mary (~1849-?) went to live with others in the 1860 census. Martha is living with Titus and Sarah Tish (or Fish). I believe that Sarah is the daughter of Edmund Town and is Martha's maternal aunt. Titus and Sarah are buried In Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, Floyd Co., IA. along with Mrs. Lidia Carter who may be Titus's sister based on inference since his mother's name was Lydia.
In 1860, Mary Hare was living with Edmund and Electra Town in Benton Co., IA. I believe that they are the girl's maternal grand parents.
If anyone has any information on this family, please contact me.

Hi Lynda,

Thank you for writing. My mother-in-law was June Frost-Bonebrake. I have pictures of the Frost family that I'm working on. Yes, I would love to share any information and pictures with you.

Hope you don't mind I passed your name and information onto my husband's cousin's wife, Peggy Frost. She is the wife of my husband's cousin, Bill Frost. She have been working hard on the family. I can see the spelling being different. I had gave Peggy what information I found. She have been in contact with the family back east. She had gotten a lot of information and pictures from them. You can find more information from her.

I do have pictures of the Frost family that she doesn't have at this time. I have sent her copies but have found more that I need to share with her. I would be willing to share with you too. Hope to hear from you soon.

Brenda
brendabonebrake@msn.com

I don't know if I actually posted a reply, so you may receive 2, counting this one.

Ed and Mary Hayes scherf are my great grandparents. I have the photo, thank you. They lived in Ventura and Clear Lake, where I knew them in my childhood.

A second cousin and I published a Scherf geenealogy a couple of years ago. Abt. $65 from the cousin, if you are interested.

Nope, not related to your Smith.
Apparently Hugh and Nora Anderson's daughter, Mabel, was born 5-31-1886 in Red Oak, Iowa. I'm searching for the first name of the "Teneyck" she married. Mabel died 6-25-1958 in Kirksville, Adair county, Missouri. The informant was Nellie Elsea. Mabel was buried at Novinger, Adair, MO. Did couple have children? Was Nellie one of them?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I wish I had discovered the forum earlier. I would like very much to receive any pictures you may have of Willard, Mary Ann and Margaret Hayes. If you could send each one of these as a separate attachment to me at: williamdcurl@consolidated.net that would be wonderful. Likewise, I assume you want me to send the pictures that I have as an attachment so will need your e-mail address as well. The date I have for Margaret Hayes Smith is 3 August 1934 instead of the 2nd. Yours is probably right. I don't know anything about the Ripley, OK death place. I have her dying in Floyd Co., but without any cemetery listed.
I am the son of Lola Bucknell who is the daughter of Merle Palmer who is the daughter of Winnifred "Winnie" Elizabeth Hayes Palmer who is the daughter of Margaret Hannon Hayes.
I have included the picture of Joseph Smith which I will send to you as an attachment when I have your e-mail address.

Hi Bill,
What a surprise to hear a response after so many years, thank you! Yes, a copy of the picture would be wonderful to receive. I also have pictures of Margaret Hayes and of two of their children (Willard and Mary Ann) taken In Floyd Co. I have not been taking the time the last several years for more research but since posting my original question to you I have a note about Margaret's death being 2 Aug 1934 in Ripley, Payne Co., OK. Do you know of any relationship to Oklahoma for this family? Also, where do you fit in this tree? Margaret Hayes and Joseph Smith were my great-great grandparents. My grandmother remembered her grandmother quite well as she died when my grandmother was in her early 20's.

According to federal and state censuses, John Wesley Shepley (1889-1980) was living in Charles City, Iowa in 1930. The SSN Death Index claims his last place for benefits was in Charles City. He had previously lived in Chickasaw & Worth Counties. He was married to Pearl E. Cahill. She must have died between 1925 & 1930, because she is not present in the 1930 census. They had 3 sons, Lawrence F.; Cleo W.; & John D. I have been unsuccessful in locating John W. & Pearl's burial places. Information from an obituary may prove to be helpful. Thanks!

Diane C.

I am looking for a Floyd County Iowa Birth Index for the year 1912-1914. Has anyone found any Floyd County Birth Index reports? Did Floyd County have a birth Index report? My search is for my mother Dorothy Marie Duncan born in 1913 (I think). Any help would be great!

Thank you

They were enumerated in Charles City in 1915, 1920, and 1930 census records. Homer Hunn, born abt. 1856, was the son of William Hunn and Jane Smith. Thanks for any info.

Parents must be Erastus Castle and Diana Woodard Castle. Both are buried near Nora Springs, Iowa. Your ancestor William O. must be the brother of my grandfather's grandmother, Lydia Castle Gray. Erastus and Diana spent their early married life in Quebec, Canada, later emigrating to Boone County, IL, and then Iowa. I am stunned to discover that your William O. lived and died in Bemidji. That's my hometown! My grandparents moved there in 1937. I had heard that we may have had distant cousins in the area at one time, and a few years ago I did find a Castle buried in the old Guthrie cemetery. Had no idea about William and Alice. I'm a librarian and genealogist and lots of info, but not much on the Castles. There's an old "family legend" regarding Diana Woodard Castle that you may be interested in

I would agree that this is Newell Rufus Blow, who married Frances, but not that she was deceased at the time the 1900 census was taken. She was enumerated at Dell Rapids, Minnehaha, SD with her children Harry, 14, Ernest, 13, and Alta, 6, and she states she has bore 10 children, of which 8 are still living. She is listed as 'widowed'.

It would appear that she and Newell had separated, perhaps divorced, and that she gained or took custody of the younger children. I would also like to know the chronology for the dozen-odd children listed above and whether they all belong to Newell & Frances, as she only had 10 kids as of 1900.

I have recorded that Frances I. Blow, nee Hunn, died on December 1, 1933 in Sanborn, SD; but cannot find the reference at present....

T

Steve, thank you for your response. I have gotten bits and pieces of information on the Morgans since my first posting. I would like to compare information with you. In the 1870 census of Floyd,Floyd, IA. Luthen's name was deciphered as LUTHER Morgan. Living next door to him is Oliver C. Morgan, his wife, Olive and William Morgan (17). They all were born in New York, as was Frank. I believe that this was probably Frank's parents, but as yet have no proof. Take a look and let me know what you think. Thanks again for the information.

I saw your post and have some information you might be interested in. Earl Martin Morgan was my grand father. The whole story is kind of complicated. Frank Morgan had a sister named Hattie. Hattie married Delos Loban. When Florence and Frank Morgan had Earl, Florence evidently became sick at the time so Hatttie and Delose took care of Earl. Hattie and Delose could not have children. Frank and Florance basically let Hattie and Delose raise Earl and he was finally adopted legally when he was 21 years old. Earl is my mother Virginia's father. Earl married Ella Imlay and they had three children. My mother Virginia was the oldest, then Jane and a son Roger. My mother and Jane have died but my uncle Roger is 86 and lives north of Houston. If you would like to call him, he would enjoy that. He still has perfect recolection of his time in Cedar Falls. If you would like to call him, I can give you his phone number. I also have a lot of geneology information as it has been somewhat of a hobby. One road block I have run into is going back farther than Luthen Morgan. Luthen was Frank;s father. Let me hear from you if I can help you further.

Steve

John, Luthan, Luthen, Lutham, Luther, whatenver is in fact Frank Henry Morgan.s father. I have know this for years and have it in my records. One good source is the book The Ancestors and Decendents of John Dodge 1916-1898 by Marilyn M. Singer, pub. 1976. I found this book in the Charles City< Iowa library on a trip up there many years ago. It liste Charlotte Dodge and being married to Luthan Morgan and one sone as Frank Henry Morgan. I have several other sources as well, including many papers handed down to me. Charlotte Dodge's father was Martin Dodge. That is where the Martin comes from in my grand father's name, Earl Martin Morgan Loban. Hope this helps.

Steve

John, I did look at the 1870 Floyd County, Iowa Census again and do see what you are talking about with Oliver C. Morgan. Don;t know how I missed it before. In fact I see something you might not have noticed. When you put the arrow on the census it gives you a Preview typed out. In that, Oliver C. Morgan was not living next door to Luther. It has him living in the same household. You can see Oliver, age 70, Luther, age 39 and Frank, age 9 living in the same house. Probably three generations. The actual picture of the census has the dwelling number crossed out for Oliver. It has only Olive, age 73 living next door. My thought is that maybe Oliver was old and ill and too much for Olive to care for so he moved in with his son to be cared for. It is all speculation until somebody comes up with real documentation, but I think I have it right. Thanks for the hint.

Steve
