Hello,

Does anyone know if there was a Catholic Church in West Union in the 1860's? I am looking for a marriage record for Catherine DVORAK and Fritz STERNHAGEN. They applied for a marriage license on 2 Feb. 1863 in Fayette County. There is no microfilm of the actual marriage certifcate (those years are missing -- darn!) so I am hoping a nearby church might have a record. They were Catholic, and lived near Festina and Fort Atkinson in Winneshiek County on the 1870 census. We have not been able to find an actual marriage record for them there though.
