One more bit of information:

John Corder is possibly the operator of the first restaurant in Mediapolis, Ia. 10-25-1876 issue of Mediapolis Enterprise it was advertised that you could get fresh oysters at John Corder's restaurant. John Corder worked as a carpenter after selling his restaurant, and at one time was employed as a shoemaker. A daughter of John Corder, Geneva, married Robert Nelson. In 1882 E.D. Gillmore purchased the Confectionery store from John Corder.
