My GGG Grandfather Thomas R. Stevenson was a covenanter from Ohio (I think he was born in SC or NJ) He was born in 1803 and died on September 29, 1854.His son William was living in Yellow Springs twp in 1856 and had come to Iowa from IL in 1852. He was supposed to have been buried in Sharon cemetary. He first came to Iowa to Morning Sun about 1848 so I don't know for sure if he was in Des Moines county or Louisa county at the time of his death as they both have a Sharon Church and cemetary. His widow Sarah Rock Stevenson had a son in Morning Sun and son and daughter (Margaret S. McElhinney who lived next to her brother William). I would like to get a date and place of birth on him if possible and any surviving siblings if there was an obituary. Also my GG Grandfather William lost his wife Permilia in 1858 and remarried a Mary Orr in 1858 or 1859. Was there possibly a write up on the death of Permelia Daugherty Stevenson or a writeup on the wedding of William M. Stevenson and Mary Orr TIA Glen Stevenson Holmen, WI

My records show that Permelia Daugherty died Nov. 2, 1858 in Des Moines Co., Iowa and they had 4 children. 2nd wife Mary Orr and had 6 children one of which being Carlisle M. (Lisle) which is my bloodline. Third wife to Wiliima Stevenson was Harriet McGee and they had 4 children. I know that it doesn't add up but according to his obituary he had 15 children.

William and Permelia Stevenson had five children as a boy (Thomas Riley Stevenson) was born Jul 5, 1850 and died Aug. 14 1851 in Bloomington IN.I took a picture of his grave and his grandparents (George & Nancy Daugherty) graves as well as Permelia's sisters Rebecca and Jane Daugherty, and Margeret Daugherty Keeney. These are not posted but I have them on CD. Indiana has no postings on usgenweb.com but I had tried to find a way to post them and the family graves we photographed in The Walnur Ridge Covenanter cemetery in Washington county IN. Check out our photos in Page county IA. William, Mary Orr, Harriet McGee Stevenson his mother Sarah Rock Stevenson and sister Jane and many more are buried in this covenanter cemetery. I also have Many photos in the College Springs cemetery (Lisle, Mary and. Newton. daughter Neva Jean Stevenson Coulter Radford was living in Council Bluffs IA just a few years ago. Her daughter and son in law live across the river in Omaha NE.
