We are hoping to make contact with descendants of Ann Maria Bloomenaur, born 1835, in Cumberland Allegany County, Maryland. Her husband Henry Bloomenauer, lived at 934 N. 7th, Burlington, Des Moines County, Iowa. Annie's parents were James and Maria Smith.

James Smith (b. abt. 1791, Va) and Maria Hoffman (b. abt. 1795, MD). They were married October 29, 1816, in Allegany County. Accordinng to the Allegany County, Maryland 1850 census he was a cabinet maker and he had a sister named Elizabeth, b. abt. 1789.

Children of James and Maria: Elizabeth (1817), David (1819), James (1824), Augustus (Gus, 1829), Lucinda (1830 and Ann Marie (1835).

We are hoping that James Smith's descendants could tell us where James was born and who his parents and siblings were. Since Mineral and Hampshire counties in Virginia (now WV) border Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, it is probably that our Smith line came from that area.

On the 1850 Mineral County census it lists James Smith's oldest son David Smith, b. abt. 1819, so we need help to find out if our Smith ancestors came from one of these counties. We have found a James and David Smith on the 1784 Hampshire County, Virginia Tax List, however, we cannot make a connection on this new info.

All help in finding information on our Smith line is very much appreciated.
