Thank you for responding. I should have mentioned that I have all this information--along with many of the sources as I was one of the original researchers of this line. I have shared freely and now it's out there for everyone to use. Unfortunately, I still have not found Margaret's family. I have a distant cousin who will be spending several months in the east this year, and he has graciously offered to spend some time looking for her origins. Maybe this will be the year!

Margaret Fierstine died 12 Jan 1883 in Bailey's Ford, Milo, Delaware County. I would like to have a photocopy of whatever record Delaware County has.

Will pay associated costs, including mileage, and/or donation.

I have a newspaper clipping and I know she is buried in Oakland Cemetery. I am specifically looking for her parents' names and am grasping at straws. Her maiden name was Ritter, but that is all I know about her parents.

Ah, yes, this family did like to roam. It makes it especially hard to track vital records for them. The fact the the obit states that Frances was "of New York" leads me to believe she was born there and the date of the migration to Wisconsin is off. But I could easily be proven wrong.

Thanks for the info!

BTW, did you find Fred's obit online, or is it in a local source?

He was marrried Nov. 13, 1867, to Miss Frances Hall of New York, who had settled
in Illinois in 1845. In 1870 Mr.
Frentress and his bride moved to
Dubuque county, and a year later
to Delaware county."
So was she born in New York or Wisconsin? just thought this was an interesting twist..
Frances Virginia Hall was born in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, 9 Mar 1848. Her parents were Albert and Angeline (m.n. unknown) Hall. She married 13 Nov 1867 in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, Frederick Needham Frentress (1835-1928). She died 26 May 1922 in Delaware County, Iowa, possibly Manchester. I would love an obituary or death record for Frances that lists her mother's maiden name.

Frances's mother remarried after Albert's death to Moses Gillman. They lived in East Dubuque, Illinois.

I am related to George Lauer the blacksmith!!!!! My dad told me about him and my husband and I traveled there several years back and saw what was still standing of the old blacksmith shop. There was a small museum in the town too near the railroad I believe, but it was locked up when we were there. My maiden name is Heyden. My grandmother, my father's mother, was Bertha Lauer Heyden Kunstman, born in 1897 and died in 1982. I believe George was her grandfather, making him my great-great-grandfather. My name is Patricia Truty (Maiden name is Heyden). I live in northern Illinois and my parents were born and raised in Chicago.

Hi Jim, We have info on Daniel and Catherine's children (both from baptismal records at Donoughmore and from othere later sources) and there is a baptism of a Catherine Lane on 18 July 1816 in Donoughmore, but it is not yet possible to say this is definitely her. There were two marriages of Daniel Mahony's to Murphy girls in the 1810s and they are the most likely parents of Daniel (due to the naming convention of eldest son after father's father since he named his son Daniel), but that is only speculation at this point. We also know there was a family connection to a Lenihan family and also a connection of either family or close friendship to the Goldens and the Sextons, but exactly how and what are unknown. The next step is really a full canvas of the Donoughmore parish records (which are pretty good and go back to 1790). Cheers, Michael

Could someone please look up either a grave for me in Upper Bay Cemetery, Milo Twp., Delaware Co., Iowa or an obit. There are at least three burials at the cemetery site: a son, James Alfred Haigh died 13 Feb. 1904, his mother Mary Routledge Haigh died Mar 1851 and his father who could have one of three names: Thomas Haigh, James Thomas Haigh or James Alfred Haigh Sr. There is some debate as to which name is correct and only an obit or grave site can clarity this problem. The father and mother Mary were born in Yorkshire, England.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
Sharon McDonald

According to his DC, he was b. 22 Jan 1855 to John Greene & Melissa Jaquith. I believe this John is the same as a son of Israel Greene & Tabitha Harris.
Joseph B. Green

I am researching my husband's family and am stuck on the Green family. An ancestor, Elsie M. Green was b. Jun 1882 in Madison co., IA (county found from state census). She was the daughter of Joseph B. & Caroline B. "Carrie" (Chase) Green. I found their marriage record on Family Search, they were married 2 May 1880 in Clayton co., IA. According to census records, he was b. Jan 1855 in Delaware co., IA & she was b. Oct 1860 in IL. I've followed them to Ramsey co., MN as late as 1920. I found 2 possibilities for her death there but haven't gotten a chance to check on those yet.

I cannot find Joseph before the 1880 census. He was a head of household living in Edgewood, Clayton, IA at the time. In 1885 he was in Manchester, Delaware, IA with Rebecca (Webb) Green, widow of James J. Green. James J. Green was b. abt 1831 in IN, the son of Israel & Tabitha L. (Harris) Green.

At first I thought with the age difference between James & Rebecca, maybe Joseph was a son from a first marriage but found him in 1860 with his parents, unmarried & not widowed. James had at least two brothers, John W. b. abt 1830 IN & Harris B. b 1834 IN d. 1911 IA. I've been able to find info on Harris & don't think Joseph is his son but could he be John's? I haven't been able to find anything on John. I can't even find him in the 1850 census.

The Green family lived in DE, moving to Greene, Trumbull, OH to Green co., IN to IA between 1850 & 1860. In the later censuses, it says Joseph's parents were both born in IN. Given that & that he lived in the same IA counties & was with his family at Rebecca (Webb) Green's in 1885, where does he fit in?

Thanks again for the help.
I haven't yet found where they are buried, or whether they possibly also moved on from Iowa. I rather think they probably stayed, since he had a pretty secure job as a postal clerk, but who knows? I guess I'll try the SSDI next. If you should come across any info on those areas, I'd be interested.

Thanks for the info. I have found some censuses, but not all, I guess!!
Are you in any way related or just a genealogical friend?
I found Belle's sister Bertha, too, but she and her husband, who lived in Idaho, had no children. So as far as cousins go, I'm hoping to find Belle's family!

Seeking more info on Floyd and Belle. Her father, Frank Huey was my great-grandfather's brother. My G-Grandfather, James Huey stayed in NY, when Mary, Emmett & Dan Huey moved to Manchester, IA. I believe Frank & family came a bit later. Have photos of either Belle or her sister Bertha, with a violin. Would love to make contact with family.

"Because this database only contains indexes, you will need to order a copy of the original paperwork from the National Archives. The regional offices of the National Archives most often are the repository where the records are now located. In some cases the original records may be available on microfilm at the Archives in Washington, D.C. See below for addresses of where to request copies of original documents. This index will give you the information you need to obtain the copy of the original paperwork. It is always best to provide the Archives as much information as possible when requesting a record."

http://www.archives.gov/

Jerome Watson Coffin, my great grandfather, father of Clement Bailey Coffin, father of Gwendola Murial Coffin Morgan. I can fill in that branch of Clement and Susan Williams Coffin's family. I often see that somehow they lost track of Jerome after he came to California.....no death listed. Let me know what you need.
