M. Ravlin Collins was my great grandfather. His daughter, Florence Jenks Collins was my grandmother and died in 1950. She married John Thomas Peterson of Wyoming. They had 8 children of which Thomas Raphael Peterson was my father. It is my understanding that the Collins family moved to Wyoming. M. Ravlin Collins was a man of means and owned a bank in Wyoming.

Thank you for the quick response. We have documented the children of Lydia Elliott. It is William's first wife who is the mystery - the mother of Carlton and Anna McLuen. I have a source that says Liza Long and one that says Elizabeth Jones, but neither are good quality sources.
I would also like to know if this William McLuen from Perry is related to the Guthrie McLuens.

From census records, are you guessing Given died after 1910 and before 1920? The State Historical Society has all the existing issues of the Woodward newspaper, if they were still in Woodward at the time of his death, but I think a lot of issues prior to 1920 are missing :-(

Marty, do you already have the obituary? Have you looked for other mention -- funeral, etc. -- in the Woodward paper?

Are Walter and Maxine buried in the Woodward cemetery? Have you checked with the cemetery trustees to see whether David might be buried there but not have a stone, and so not showing up in most of the "indexes"?

Unfortunately, 1923 isn't digitized on newspaperarchive.com There are many mentions of the McClatchey surname in North Guthrie Times out of Bayard beginning in 1925.

That's an interesting one. I'm not sure whether Dawson ever had its own paper. My guess is you'll want the Perry paper, the Daily Chief or whatever its incarnation was at that point. I know that the issues a year or so before that are not in existence but I think your period has been filmed and would be found at both the Iowa State Historical Library in Des Moines (but not in Iowa City), and also at the Roy Estle Memorial Library in Dallas Center. If it were me, I'd contact the Dallas County genealogical society and ask them about a lookup. It might be $15, but they're going to know what to look for where. Need help in Dallas County

In the 1910 Spring Valley Township census I have three family members, One being a Charles Bertram Brown. With wife and young son Charles.

1st problem: Can anyone through look up tell me what wife Irene's maiden name might be.

2nd problem this census indicates there could have have been 2 other children born to this couple any idea how I migh find out.

Last: I am unable to locate Irene or young Charles after 1910 is there any place where divorce records are housed in this county.
